Jon Bon Jovi wanted dead or alive? The latest victim of a Twitter celebrity death hoax is still alive, well, and rocking out. Actually, he just played another big show for charity. So, for all the angst fake rumor mills report generate, they can also do some good. What if star celebs started using every false news report that trends as a way to get a plug in for their favorite charities when they have to deny (or confirm) bad dish — like teen scene celeb Justin Bieber did with the baby daddy rumors?

Jon Bon Jovi dead or aliveAnother celebrity death hoax got started on Twitter claiming legendary rock star Jon Bon Jovi had died in New Jersey after suffering cardiac arrest. Only one website has made the claim, which reads like a poorly written press release, but their fake celeb news report about a famous person dying was just real enough to start a re-tweeting frenzy.

The joke (at least on the surface) was a cruel one, considering the amount of work the green celebrity rock star does for the homeless and otherwise disenfranchised. At first, someone might think to themselves, “Why anyone would want to claim Jon Bon Jovi is dead is beyond reason…” But hear us out. What if someone who knows and loves Bon Jovi was simply perpetrating the hoax because they got the idea to get him some extra free press from Justin Bieber?

The Biebs was one recent victim of a tabloid news report that ran a cover story about a woman claiming Justin Bieber had fathered her baby. When the news hit, the celebrity teen did the wisest thing he could. He vehemently denied being the baby daddy, says he never met the girl (a groupie named Mariah Yeater), and used every celebrity interview he gave about the celebrity scandal to promote sales of his Christmas album. A portion of the proceeds of his new album go to support food bank charities and the media-savvy star was not bashful telling the press about it.

JON BON JOVI WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE

Now, as for the bad news erroneously reported about Bon Jovi. The claim Jon Bon Jovi died prompted some on Twitter and elsewhere to make their own jokes, saying the star celeb himself wasn’t dead — just his career. Boo. The celebrity news website folks from Gossip Cop claim they personally spoke with the singer’s rep to confirm the star is in fact alive and rocking. According to them, the famous 80s hair band singer performed at a charity event called the Hope Concert in New Jersey. CNN, a mainstream media news source, has confirmed the star’s well-being also. Both websites noted that the days the rumors circulated he had passed away were in the hours preceding his appearance at the charity benefit.

Coincidence? For the sake of the charity, we hope no.

While Jon Bon Jovi may not be in the entertainment spotlight, in the humble opinion of the Green Celebrity Network crew, he’s still making waves in green celebrity and humanitarian news pools.

Get smart, press camp! It’s the ideal time for Jon Bon Jovi to put out a YouTube video where he verifies he is alive and kicking — and to talk about all the great things he’s been able to accomplish lately for charity [above and beyond the fundraiser he just participated in]. For instance, the Jon Bon Jovi Soul Foundation has built over 250 homes for low-income residents in recent years. Now that’s some good news to share about a wanted celebrity!

JON BON JOVI CHARITY BENEFIT ACTIVITIES

In addition to helping the homeless and economically destitute, Bon Jovi and his wife Dorothea launched a new restaurant in Red Bank, NJ back in October. The restaurant, called Soul Kitchen, is the latest in the star celeb’s humanitarian work portfolio. Patrons of Soul Kitchen are asked to pay just what they can for meals — no less, no more.

But meals served at Soul Kitchen aren’t completely free (even for folks who don’t have any money).

Bon Jovi asks those who can’t pay cash for a meal to at least help out by busing tables, washing dishes, or even volunteering at Lunch Break, a local food pantry where volunteers can earn a gift certificate for a meal at Soul Kitchen.

“If you come in and say, ‘I’m hungry,’ we’ll feed you,” said Bon Jovi, who emphasized, “But we’re going to need you to do something… This is not an entitlement thing. This is about empowering people because you have to earn that gift certificate.”

So, before you share that celebrity gossip report that only shares bad news this holiday season, think about re-tweeting a link to this good news story or sharing news about the celebrity death ho-ho hoax with family and friends closest to you.
