Beyonce Knowles and Jay-Z finally had their first baby! Their new daughter has been named Blue Ivy Carter and she is already making headlines and selling entertainment news magazines as a celebrity baby. How will the green celebrity parents, as famous humanitarians, choose to raise their new baby? Will the Hollywood trend to go green influence their decision about how to feed the child, what to buy her to wear, what baby products to use, and how to raise her ethically speaking? With choices ranging from organic baby food to all natural diaper creams and baby bottles that are BPA-free, we hope she’ll have the best of everything.

Beyonce Pregnant by Jay-ZA star is born! Beyonce Knowles delivers! Will daughter Blue Ivy be raised a green baby?

In spite of all the rumor mills reports that singer Beyonce Knowles had already given birth to a baby girl named Tiana May [which we reported last week was unfounded gossip about the delivery date and completely untrue rumors about the child’s name], we learned along with the rest of the Twitterverse that Beyonce’s preggo belly finally popped on Saturday, January 8th, 2012.

The little girl’s name — for real this time — is Blue Ivy Carter. [A much prettier name than the fake one the that first started trending in tweets.]

With any luck the new baby pictures will make their way to the World Wide Web shortly!

The New York Daily News reported that the celebrity baby girl immediately became a Twitter sensation, with some joker creating an account with the baby’s name merely hours after she took her first breath. While that’s a rather sad commentary on the state of all things internet, it does lead one to wonder if baby Blue Ivy will become a green celebrity sensation like momma Beyonce and daddy Jay-Z before she even takes her first steps.

Will the celebrity couple raise daughter Blue Ivy like other green celebrity moms Nicole Richie, Kelly Ripa, and Angelina Jolie? Go Green Baby! One would hope!

There are lots of choices for green baby products these days — ranging from parents having a choice between cloth and disposable diapers, to BPA-free bottles and nipples, to organic baby foods, to using all natural products that have never been tested on animals and more. We expect these hip-hop music inspired star celebs will choose only the best for Blue Ivy, and these two are in the know where humanitarian responsibilities that also benefit the planet are a concern.

Fox News reported:

Former bandmate Kelly Rowland appeared to let slip the baby’s sex in a November interview, saying, “I have no idea what I’m going to buy Beyonce at the baby shower because Jay is going to buy that little girl every single thing possible. She won’t be spoiled but she will be very well looked-after.”

Red Cross supporter and baby daddy (in the sincerest use of the phrase) Jay-Z already supports the Boys’ and Girls’ Clubs of America and has donated $250,000 to PlayPumps, to help African children get access to clean water. He also donated $2,500 worth of designer street wear to the Spring Hill Campaign for Adolescent and University Student Empowerment (CAUSE), a student organization, in support of their community efforts.

Likewise, new momma Beyonce is the founder of the Survivor Foundation, in the wake of Hurricane Katrina in 2005, and which helps survivors of that and similar catastrophes by assisting with education, financial support, and so on. Beyonce also supports Kids Wish Network, Love our Children USA, and the Miami Children’s Hospital Foundation.

We here at GCN have no doubt this famous celebrity couple will provide nothing but the best for their little girl, and we can’t think of a better way to start off the New Year than to bring a beautiful little girl into the bright green world they’ll surely continue to create for her.

For that reason, we were delighted to share their story for #EcoMonday! If you think they should raise the baby in a way that encourages her to grow up green, share or retweet this link. If you have advice or a green products link to share with the star celebs about going green while child rearing, please feel free to do so in the facebook comments.

Go green, baby!
