Why you should not hate Meryl Streep’s gold 2012 Oscars dress (it was eco friendly)

Here’s a bit of eco-friendly fashion news. Actress Meryl Streep was not wearing Liberace’s curtains when she won the 2012 Academy Award for Best Actress. She was actually wearing a ball gown that was eco-friendly.

“Not only did Meryl Streep take home the Oscar for her performance in “The Iron Lady…”” said Ecorazzi in a news report dated February 27th. “The actress who all actresses long to become blew away the fashion competition in her full-length gold Lanvin gown last night. The best part? This shimmery dress with the plunging neckline is totally eco-friendly.”

According to the green gossip website, “Livia Firth recruited Streep to be a part of the Green Carpet Challenge. The three time Oscar winner joined others like Livia and Colin Firth, Viola Davis, Michael FassbenderKenneth Branagh and Damian Bichir by wearing eco-friendly threads.”

The golden gown was widely panned by fashion critics who pondered why Streep chose it. Saying she must have dressed up to look like the Oscar statue, they all seemed to get the giggles. But, once they realized that Streep had taken the green carpet challenge, the tone of their critical remarks about the wardrobe choice lightened up a bit.

Meryl Streep looked lovely in the color. The gown itself was lovely. It simply (from the looks of it) need to be tailored a bit more to make a neater fit.
