Which star celebs joined the cast of the hit reality television dance competition Dancing With The Stars in 2012? The answer reads off like a list of personality types from the movie The Breakfast Club. Here’s a list of their team nicknames, links to pages with more information about each celebrity couple, and why each celebrity is famous. By converting any team name to a hashtag using the # symbol, it is fun and easy to connect with other fans of the hit show #DWTS on Twitter.

The new season of Dancing With The Stars aired on March 19th, 2012. Using the hashtag #DWTS on Twitter, show promoters were delighted to share tweets and retweets about how each new celebrity couple did on the dance floor. But the hashtag for the show title is old news. What’s new is the reality television series is now encouraging viewers to follow along at home on Twitter using team names as hashtags.

If you would like nothing more than to see one of your tweets pop up on national TV, put a hashtag in front of any of the team names listed below and share your tweet. Different from simply sharing a celebrity name with a hashtag, the team names let fans who love the show but only have a passing interest in following the progress of one or more particular couples interact on the social media website with one another.

The show is featuring tweets about the performances and seems to be encouraging more online voting for favorites as well. When you want to search or share more information about them on Twitter, don’t forget log on to visit ABC.com to vote for your favorite star celebs each week as well.

If you want to see them keep competing to win the Mirror Ball Trophy, the following dance teams need your vote.

#DWTS TEAM NAMES

Team Driving Miss Peta is comprised of Green Bay Packers celebrity athlete Donald Driver and Peta Murgatroyd. Peta is a new pro debuting on the series. The beautiful blonde was part of the dance troop last season. He is a Super Bowl Champion who rose to stardom after being homeless as a child. Follow #TeamDrivingMissPeta on Twitter.

Team Gavin features shy musician and singer Gavin DeGraw and Karina Smirnoff. Karina is a former mirror ball trophy winner who incited controversy last year when she posed nude for Playboy magazine. DeGraw (who seems to have a thing for the ladies) could not be happier she is his partner. The rock star is known for being quite the romantic gentleman. Follow #TeamGavin on Twitter.

Team Gladys Knight is made up of Gladys Knight and Tristan MacManus. Gladys is a world famous singer who has been knocking her vocals out of the park with her back up band the Pips for decades. Tristan is the Irish dance pro who twirled Nancy Grace successfully around on the dance floor last season. Follow #TeamGladysKnight on Twitter.

Team Wagannbuns is none other than Jack Warner and Anna Trebunskaya. Jack is a soap opera star who also has had pop music hits as a vocalist. Anna is the fiery red head from Russia and Jack says he was very excited not to be paired with yet another boring blonde. Follow #TeamWagannbuns on Twitter.

Team Jaleel features Jaleel and Kym Johnson. Jaleel used to play the character Steve Erkel (the lovable nerd). He’s grown up and is a sexy man now. Aussie partner Kym (the pretty blond who won the Mirror Ball Trophy with football player Hines Ward) is his partner. He seems to have a natural grace on the dance floor. Follow #TeamJaleel on Twitter.

Team KMark partners Katherine Jenkins and Mark Ballas. Katherine is a world-class opera singer. Mark is a world-class choreographer. Expect great things from the pretty blonde and her swarthy dance pro on the 2012 season of Dancing With The Stars. Both are talented and well liked professionals in their respective industries, so romantic fireworks could spark as well. Follow #TeamKmark on Twitter.

Team Menough is none other than Maria Menounos and Derek Hough. Maria is a co-host on EXTRA. Known for being the girl who lost the Super Bowl bet and had to host the show in her bikini while she stood in the middle of Times Square in New York City, her funny sense of humor, intelligence, and gorgeous face and figure will make her delightful to watch dance. Derek Hough, a dance pro favorite, is hoping he’ll be able to coach her well enough that she can win the Mirror Ball Trophy the same way her EXTRA entertainment news co-anchor Mario Lopez wanted to in the past when he made his own special guest appearance. Follow #TeamMenough on Twitter.

Team Sweetspot features Martina Navratilova and Tony Dovolani. Martina is the most decorated tennis player ever and says the dance competition will be hard on her because she has not worn a dress in 20 years. Her greatest fear about being on DWTS 2012? High heels. Tony was paired in the past with reality TV star Kate Gosselin. Although Navratilova is not expected to win the competition, he will (most likely) have a much easier time teaching Martina — because she is one of the sweetest and most hard-working celebrity athletes there is… Follow #TeamSweetspot on Twitter.

Team MGMC joined Melissa Gilbert and Maksim Chmerkovskiy in the competition. Melissa got famous as a child star for playing the character Laura Ingles on Little House On The Prairie. If any woman represents the goodie two shoes on the show, it should be this celeb. But she says she’s not afraid to be sexy on the dance floor with Maks. Maksim is the toughest dance pro to work with report most of his female dance partners. Even though he’s easy on the eyes to look at, when he opens his mouth he’s very rarely sweet. Melissa said she hoped she would get him as her pro because she likes tough coaching. Fans expect she’ll get that from him! Follow #TeamMCMC on Twitter.

Team Rochee the youngest couple on the 2012 DWTS season are Roshon Fegan and Chelsie Hightower. He is a Disney Star and she is simply known for working well with younger celebs. His hip hop background freestyle dance moves were already working their way into their dance routines on the season première. His greatest challenge will be learning to star true to form. Follow #TeamRochee on Twitter.

Team SherVal appeared to be the fun team. Sherri Shepherd and Val Chmerkovskiy (little brother of mean Maks) got off on the right foot from the get-go. She smiled all throughout the dance competition première night and apologized to anyone she panned on The View for poor performances in the past. Noting there is a God after squeezing Val’s butt, one thing was clear. The young Russian dancer who got stuck with George Clooney’s bitter ex girlfriend Elisabetta Canalis last season is about to have a whole lot more laughs teaching this talk show star. Follow #TeamSherVal on Twitter.

Team William Levy William Levy and Cheryl Burke might end up being the hardest team to beat simply because lots of middle-aged women watch Dancing With The Stars and he is so spectacularly hot. Judges Bruno Tonioli, Carrie Ann Inaba, and Len Goodman were all visibly moved (albeit for different reasons) watching the star celeb do the Cha Cha. He might have started training for the competition a week late, but his moves were spot on. Playing the hot bad boy comes natural to this Cuban soap opera star. Seeing him dance and interact with his partner Cheryl during the video clip segment, it was no wonder that American Idol judge Jennifer Lopez used him to play her love interest in one of her music videos.
