American moviegoers really love family films that offer a sense of familiarity. Hoping to bond generations, they expect Hollywood filmmakers to create new movies that tell old-fashioned stories to the younger generations in such a way that adults are amused while children learn the moral of the story while being entertained. Fairy tale stories provide plenty of it — that wonderful mix of magic and morals that allow pop culture and history to mix in a way that is delightful. In 2012, three major movie stars took on fairy tales told like action adventure movies as a new movie genre: Angelina Jolie, Julia Roberts, Charlize Theron and Kristen Stewart.
