Former child star and Nickelodeon actress Amanda Bynes was recently arrested in California for driving under the influence. The actresses career has been faltering for quite some time now as she has wrestled with the idea of remaining in show business. At one point she announced she was leaving the movie and television industry only to say several months later that she changed her mind. Now that it seems she’s drinking, her erratic behavior is starting to make a bit more sense. But her latest antics related to being arrested for DUI are quite surprising. She’s actually asking President Obama to fire the police officer who arrested her under suspicion of drinking and driving.
Amanda Bynes is an American actress. Known for her work as a child star on the Nickelodeon channel, she showed early promise him being a talented young comedian. Born April 3, 1986, the 5’8″ tall and pretty young lady is already 26 years old. As a young 20 something, she costarred with actor Zac Efron in the John Waters movie “Hairspray”. As a celebrity teen, she attended Thousand Oaks High School in Thousand Oaks, California (the play she was born). Nowadays, she is a fashion designer, has done some singing, and is still technically considered a movie actress and television star. [Recently, she starred with Emma Stone and Stanley Tucci in “Easy A”.] And, she’s also up on criminal charges after a brief run in with the law.
In the past, Bynes was in the news for doing charity work for organizations like YouthAIDS, The Heart Truth, and Coalition of Skin Diseases. Now, she’d getting free publicity because tabloid magazines have all picked up her arrest story — and she’s tweeting to amp up getting her name in the news.
On June 5, 2012 Bynes pleaded not guilty to DUI (driving under the influence) in a California court. according to TMZ and Hollywood life, at the time of her arrest the actress had refused to take a blood test or breathalyzer test. When someone refuses why would the police request to determine whether or not they are driving under the influence of any substance (alcohol or otherwise), typically it results in an automatic guilty verdict and or suspension of license for a period of time which in most states averages one year.
Bynes is now facing a minimum of 48 hours in jail as a result the charge and is likely to spend up to six months in jail as a result of her folly. Making better more ridiculous, she’s tried to be funny by tweeting a plea to United States President Barack Obama asking him to fire police officer who arrested her. Without that officer’s testimony against her in a court of law, she’s likely to be able to have the case dismissed.
Her actual tweet said, “Hey @BarackObama… I don’t drink. Please fire the cop who arrested me. I also don’t hit and run. The end.”
