Gwyneth Paltrow is known as a health and fitness minded celebrity. Called out on Feb. 16, 2013 by Radar Online as a detox diet fan, the famous blonde starlet was named as a guru of sorts when it comes to staying slim and trim. But aside from her fabulous celebrity mom physique, what is her back story? The Hollywood icon might not look like she has much time to do anything else but fitness trainer Tracy Anderson‘s workout techniques, but actually she keeps herself incredibly busy working, parenting, and giving back time to help humanitarian and environmentally friendly charities.

Who is Gwyneth PaltrowPaltrow was born was born in 1972 in Los Angeles and into Hollywood royalty. Her mother is Blythe Danner, a Tony Award winning actress and her father is Bruce Paltrow, a major producer.  She and her husband, Chris Martin, have a daughter, Blythe Alison Martin and a son, Moses.

Paltrow is an active philanthropist. She worked on a limited edition perfume collection with Estee Lauder called “Pleasures Gwyneth Paltrow”, and she donates a minimum of $500,000 in profits to  breast cancer research.

No intellectual slouch, she serves on the board of  the Robin Hood Foundation, which ensures that 100 percent of  contributions go to effective poverty fighting programs in New York City.

Paltrow is an eco-friendly philanthropist who supports the Prince’s Trust, Act Green  and the Environmental Media Association. She and celebrity friend Cameron Diaz were featured in a December Public Service Advertisement for the Environmental Media Association.

As a famous humanitarian, she is widely known a prominent contributor to  UNICEF, having narrated the UNICEF sponsored film, “The Gift”

Her early acting training came from her parents and her first stage performance was in Williamstown Theatre play, “Picnic”. She decided to drop out of college, where she was an Art History major and to try for a film career. She started with such works as “Shout” with John Travolta, and a small role in “Hook” after she met Stephen Spielberg. Her major breakthrough came when the reviewers raved over her 1993 performance in “Flesh and Bone”.  Now she is a Golden Globe and dual Oscar winner.

According to Eco Cool, Paltrow is a healthy food advocate, too. Her new cookbook is titled, “It’s All Good: Delicious, Easy Recipes That will Make You Look Good and Feel Great”.

Knowing she was compared to actresses Anne Hathaway and Selma Hayek is a compliment to her in the beauty department from Radar Online, but also to the other two women. But her celebrity friends list really is one of the coolest in Hollywood social circles.

She and Maya Rudolph (of SNL fame) have been friends since childhood. But of special note is the very real fact she claims to be the best of friends with Madonna.
