Dr. Dre in trouble with Peta for using real animal fur to make fashion accessories

Huffington Post is reporting some dark green news. It seems Dr. Dre is on the Peta hit list for using real animal fur to luxe up one of the rapper’s celebrity endorsed products — his high-definition headphones just got a creepy high fashion makeover.

“The Grammy-winning artist and producer has teamed up with fashion designer Oscar de la Renta to create an ultra luxe pair of his popular headphones. The limited edition design is covered in plum-hued silver fox and boosts ControlTalk, hands-free calling, a travel case and a 1-year warranty…” reports the green news website.

According to the source, the plush animal fur covered headphones will cost you big green –the headphones-meet-earmuffs retail for $695!

Huff Post asked the essential question of the day. “Is it just us or does it almost feel almost uncivilized to blast Lil Wayne though fancy fox fur covered headphones?”

The report says the fine folks who work and volunteer for the non-profit organization PETA are not enamoured with the furry music accessory.

“Michelle Cho, a representative for the animal rights group, has sent a letter to Dr. Dre asking him to keep fur and exotic-animal skins out of his electronic designs.”

She goes on to say:

“With so many fashionable, cruelty-free materials available these days, we hope that you will keep animals in mind and choose not to use fur or exotic skins in your collection,” Cho wrote. “You have a tremendous amount of influence on young people–won’t you please consider using your platform to advocate kindness toward animals by pledging never to design with real fur and exotic skins?”

Although the ultra luxury hip hop headphones are still available for purchase on Oscar’s e-commerce website, one can only hope that the most fashionable of star celebs would discourage people from buying them.

Like Justin Bieber, for one. He is a celebrity spokesperson for Peta.

Humane Society in danger of losing star celebs donations?

An animal shelter called the Arizona Humane Society is in hot water for killing a man’s pet kitten. When Daniel Dockery was unable to pay in cash for emergency medical treatment for the animal after ‘Scruffy’ was injured after an encounter with a piece of barbed wire, the organization refused to take a credit card to help him pay for surgery. Instead, they demanded cash payment; unable to pay without a few days leeway, they asked him to sign a paper releasing the cat to their care. Then, after promising him the sick animal would be adopted into foster care until he could raise the money, they euthanized his beloved pet.

The Humane Society (as a broad term) is widely known for animal right protection, not abuse. While the Arizona Humane Society is a standalone organization, groups like the HSUS [Humane Society of the United States] are taking metaphoric media shrapnel type flack over the case.

While the people who run the Arizona center that killed the kitten are begging for people not to cut off their funding — and are asking them to donate more to correct the situation — the charitable star celebs who have donated to the Humane Society in the past must be feeling a little sting.

Famous faces who support the Humane Society on a national level and in their local areas include (but are not limited to) former Price Is Right host Bob Barker, Jon Lovitz, Kristen Bell, and Ed Begley, Jr.

Will these star celebs lighten their holiday donations, instead diverting their wealth to other non-profit animal rights organizations offering them an opportunity to help animals while getting a tax write off? Hopefully not, because as the bad animal shelter leaders point out, to pull funds from any Humane Society or Humane Alliance only makes matters worse for any unfortunate animal caught in the middle of the charitable donations withholding process.

Demi Moore daughter wearing plenty of dead animals (butt not enough pants)?

Scout Willis, the daughter of Hollywood screen legends Demi Moore and Bruce Willis, recently made a bad decision. She posed semi-nude for a modeling photo shoot while wearing genuine leather black assless chaps, a white leather coat, and accessorized her cheeky outfit with a not-so-fabulous fox fur stole. That means she’s been spotted lately wearing plenty of dead animals BUTT not enough pants.

The red fox is one of the cutest animals furriers choose to kill for their pelts. Once fashionable for ladies to wear as an accessory thrown over one shoulder, People For The Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) has made donning real fur from dead animals unfashionable now.

How will the animal rights organization react to the scandalous photos? Keep your eye on @peta, the non-profit organizations official social media page on Twitter to see what they have to say about the photos of the daughter of Demi Moore.

And just think… had Scout Willis used her star power more wisely (by going vegetarian and posing for PETA in the I’d rather go naked than wear fur campaign), she could have been one of next year’s featured pet friendly faces on U.S. postage stamps!

The official PETA website says, “PETA has launched a limited-edition sheet of U.S. postage PhotoStampsTM featuring famous vegetarians throughout history. The VIPs featured on these unique postage sheets ditched meat from their diets either out of concern for their health, for the environment, or for animals—and our world would not be the same without their accomplishments. Although the individuals featured in this series seem very different at first glance, they are united in their respect for animals.

Assless chaps and a fur wrap. Scout, what were you thinking?

At least when her mom took her clothes off for the movie Strip Tease with actor Burt Reynolds back in the day, she made a bunch of money for doing it.

Matt Damon losing ground as green celebrity for attending bull fight

Matt Damon is well known as a green celebrity for his outspoken political views that lean toward the side of being liberal, for his work with humanitarian organization Charity Water and even for being spotted driving a Tesla Roadster… but his good deeds are not helping him much in the eyes of animal rights activists. Damon was spotted attending a bull fight while in Mexico — and not the Dancing With The Stars Paso Doble kind. His choice of spectator sports has not made him any friends in the non-profit organization PETA.

Ecorazzi picked up the bad news from a UK tabloid and decided to stir the pot by reporting, “According to the Daily Mail, Damon attended a bullfight at La Monumental bullring stadium in Mexico City with friends. Photos and sources indicate he wasn’t too into what was happening in the ring, yawning and talking to friends but applauding the fight at times.”

According to the eco-friendly and pet-friendly website, “Animal organizations will likely still find his choice of event appalling, including PETA which calls bullfighting “a tradition of tragedy”.

PETA says “Each year, approximately 250,000 bulls die in bullfights,” which they claim are, “an inaccurate term for events in which there is very little competition between a nimble, sword-wielding matador (Spanish for ‘killer’) and a confused, maimed, psychologically tormented, and physically debilitated animal.”

His new film titled We Bought A Zoo has been drawing criticism for he and co-star Scarlett Johannson from animal rights activists as well. They claim zoos are inappropriate habitats for wildlife and have even voiced some concerns about live animal treatment on set while the pair is filming. However, folks who don’t lean super left seem to think the new Matt Damon movie is likely to earn him an Oscar nomination — even if the PETA people don’t like him.

Why?

Because Hollywood is going green — and all the powers that be seem to like and recognize that Matt Damon is, above all else, a humanitarian. He’s not an animal rights activist, a vegetarian, or a vegan. He’s just a manly man and boy from Boston who votes liberal, might have political aspirations to someday run for president, and has enormous talent.

It’s too bad the Adjustment Bureau does not really exist right now. It would have been nice to see him pass on the bull fight attendance.

Lady Gaga anti-bullying foundation helps LGBT teens

The nature v. nurture debate has been solved — at least in the mind of green celebrity Lady Gaga. She has officially created her own anti-bullying foundation called Born This Way. And, the star celeb thinks, while kids are born gay or lesbian it takes a great deal of nurturing and protection to make sure they grow up with healthy self esteem and feeling whole.

Gaga has been a celebrity activist fighting for LGBT human rights for years. She’s also a noted environmentalist who boycotted BP after the New Orleans oil spill. Not afraid to get her hands dirty taking on tough opponents, now she has taken her fight to have gay marriage legalized and civil rights for all members of the LGBT community right into the face of bullies who would ridicule her or any of her Little Monsters.

Lady Gaga is a social media guru who always uses her star power wisely. Once she had her youtube account banned, but the green celebrity quickly had it restored so she could continue to share her video and help promote worthwhile causes.

Huffington Post reports,

Lady Gaga is launching a foundation with the help of the MacArthur Foundation and Harvard University.

The Grammy-winning singer announced Wednesday that she is launching the Born This Way Foundation, a nonprofit focusing on youth empowerment and “issues like self-confidence, well-being, anti-bullying, mentoring and career development.”

Gaga’s partners include the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, The California Endowment and the Berkman Center for Internet & Society at Harvard University.

Celebrity mom Jessica Alba sues over missing baby bump photos?

Actress Jessica Alba is a hot new mom and green celebrity in Hollywood. Known for her public support for a wide variety of charities and blogging openly about her trips to third world countries to help spark awareness about what it is like to live in poverty, she recently gave birth to a darling baby. According to the celebrity gossip website TMZ, she has since filed a lawsuit that states the folks behind an allegedly shady company named Belly Bandit have “prominently featured and posted a photograph of Alba, and listed her name under the Celebrity Testimonials section of their Website.” To their claim, the darling diva says hooey — she has worked her butt off literally and figuratively speaking to win back her fit and trim figure, never using or in any way endorsing the organization’s product.

Spotted out smiling in Brentwood, California by paparazzi photos from Just Jared on October 19th, the site confirmed, “The 30-year-old actress is suing Belly Bandit claiming her name and likeness were used without permission to promote a post-pregnancy weight loss device.”

Alba’s top notch legal team pointed out in the filing that the packaging carried her name in such a way it made it look like she gave her explicit celebrity endorsement and stated outright that their product was, “Jessica Alba’s Secret for a Fast Post Pregnancy Slim down!’” So, while Alba says in no way did she give her permission to use her name or likeness to promote their products, she’ll certainly be willing (in hindsight) to benefit from the company lying about her involvement with the hot star celebs.

Not only is she suing the group for a cool $1 million in pay-off, Alba’s legal team has put in a hefty request for a percentage of the company’s profits.

Why not? After all — it is likely to have been her “hot mommy – liciousness” that helped the company sell their ridiculous product… but seriously. If she benefits from future sales, do you think she really ought to change her tune and help them sell their tummy slimming cheater products?

One hopes not.

Why? Because she is a much stronger voice for health and fitness if she shares her post-baby body slim down secrets with other moms who feel they need to lose excess weight to get slim and feel healthy once again. Alba was one of the recipients of Love Our Children USA’s “Mothers Who Make A Difference” awards back in 2009… and we would love to see her win more spectacular moms awards for being a green celebrity role model for mothers in the future.

Reese Witherspoon walks NYC to promote Breast Cancer Awareness

Go green celebrities! Fit Perez shared the humanitarian news that actress Reese Witherspoon joined 3,500 other dedicated walkers in New York City for Avon’s annual Walk for Breast Cancer over the weekend.

“Thanks to the massive effort, an incredible $8.4 million was raised for breast cancer research…” said blogger Perez Hilton, seeming to shower the cute actress with praises for her participation in the fund raiser.

Breast Cancer is a serious and life threatening medical condition that actually can affect both men and women. KISS band member Peter Criss is a survivor, as is Up All Night and Married With Children actress Christina Applegate. Applegate underwent a double mastectomy to help her treat and beat breast cancer back in 2008. The famous rock band drummer found out he had a more rare form of male breast cancer back in 2009.

With more tabloid gossip reports sharing news and reviews of Hollywood celebrities health and fitness status, mainstream news organizations are starting to pick up news about green celebrity causes more often.

In the case of Reese Witherspoon making an appearance to walk for the event and give the function her celebrity endorsement, websites like Huffington Post and Contact Music picked up her attendance… but so did the Wall Street Journal.

They write:

The trek itself—39.3 miles, involving a sleepover in pink tents on Roosevelt Island with many of the 3,500 participants—raised $8.4 million. In turn, the Avon Foundation awarded $9.1 million in grants at the closing ceremony at Hudson River Park’s Pier 84 to 10 organizations, among them God’s Love We Deliver, CancerCare and the New York University Cancer Institute.

Reese Witherspoon has become a community outreach ambassador for Avon over the years. She said her goal for the pink theme breast cancer awareness day was a lofty but attainable one.

WSJ shared, “Ms. Witherspoon said that her goal for the day was “to put a spotlight on the incredible work Avon does and do what I can to support it. It’s about changing people’s lives. My parents were doctors, so I feel a certain camaraderie with them.”"

That mainstream news coverage will most likely help the organization that organized the charitable function operate more successfully in future years as an established and well recognized event.

To that end, all the free press star celebs get for them helps draw media attention to the issue at hand [in this case Breast Cancer Awareness] and should ultimately help attract future sponsors.

Witherspoon was recently hit by a car while jogging in California.

Green celebrity George Clooney uses star power wisely on Letterman

In a candid interview, actor George Clooney told David Letterman about his desire to end the wars plaguing the Sudan. His humanitarian efforts in Darfur have made him famous in the United States, but he’s not quite a hero in the eyes of those who don’t have access to nearby movie theaters or basic cable. The Hollywood celeb is a respected spokesperson while visiting the region, but his work in films is overlooked when he’s advocating for humanity.

As tribal factions continue to war and over two million people have been killed in what Clooney rightly describes as genocide, Clooney is using his star power wisely to help the public be more aware of human conditions and the tragedy happening there.

Letterman looked visibly moved by the facts and figures as he was retelling the death tolls. Wondering how humans can be brutal to one another, Clooney patiently explained that old tribal tensions were a large part of the root causes of aggression. He also cited border disputes as being a major contributing factor to the growing division between North and South there. Darfur is located in the Western area towards the North.

Clooney says he is striving to bring attention to the political tensions, hoping his star power will help change things for the better there.

George Clooney joked green celebrity Ryan Gosseling — the other star of his new movie The Ides of March — is a pretty boy who can’t get a job. He also quipped that his movie clip was of them smoking a bong, to which Letterman asked if he was playing “grab ass” as well. Clooney said that depended on what time of day it was, looked uncomfortable, and was likely happier to reflect back on Dave’s earlier interview questions about Vera Farmigia‘s butt.

Did Ashton Kutcher delete Demi Moore from his verified Twitter account?

To tweet or not to tweet… or shall we say to follow or not to follow? That was the hot celebrity gossip question started by Radar Online about Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore on September 30th, the green celebrity couple embroiled in yet another unfortunate Hollywood cheating scandal.

Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore are well known green celebrities who advocate for the end of human traffic in the sex trade industry (of all things). The news they are struggling comes as a disappointment to fans who hoped the star celebs romance was so secure that nothing so stupid as some wannabe mistress who was bucking to be famous could rock them.

Huffington Post reports the website jumped the gun in claiming Ashton Kutcher had unfollowed his allegedly estranged cougar bride or that she had deleted her hot young lover over a rumor report he was doing the do with a not-so-sweet young thing.

READ MORE: Who is Sarah Leal?

The woman who seems to have started the controversy is named Sara Leal — although many celeb sites are calling her Sarah Leal. She’s an aspiring actress and director who is relatively unknown in Hollywood. At the time reports she and Kutcher allegedly hooked up on the 12th floor of the Hard Rock Hotel in San Diego, California, not even a picture of her appeared on IMDb (though a page was devoted to her work).

READ MORE: Sara Leal Cell Phone confiscated by Ashton Kutcher Bodyguard, why?

By the time the story broke, Leal had already hired a high profile Hollywood attorney and was demanding at least $250k from a tabloid to talk (and presumably an undisclosed amount to keep quiet from Mr. and Mrs. Kutcher).

Now, sources are saying Demi is fed up with Ashton heading out to party and taking liberties with young women. The two are staying quiet about confirming or denying reports of their split — most likely while they negotiate with Sarah Leal’s lawyer about paying the blonde mistress her hush money.

One young fan who wished to remain anonymous had this to say to the Hollywood star, hoping his words of unsolicited advice would reach the star’s press camp by Internet. He writes, “Man, Ashton… you should have known better than to put yourself in this sort of situation! Never, never go anywhere with a woman (or a man for that matter) that could compromise your reputation and do harm to your marriage!”

Hopefully, the celebs will be able to put this nasty rumor behind them and get back to doing what they do best — being famous humanitarians and raising money and awareness for a variety of positive social causes.
