Remember that strange guy who worked in the video store in the movie Men In Black? His name is David Cross and he is the actor who was featured as the Chipmunk nemesis in recent Alvin and the Chipmunks movies. He recently appeared on the late night television talk show hosted by famous ginger Conan O’Brien. There is where he really put his foot in his mouth, as he chipwrecked all the positive press the movie had been getting by slamming the film series.

The Hollywood Reporter shared, “An unfiltered, unapologetic David Cross ripped into Alvin And The Chipmunks: Chipwrecked during an appearance on Conan, causing the late-night host to visibly cringe…”

“There was one producer, I won’t say (who), but she is the personification of what people think about when they think negatively about Jews,” said Cross, who stars alongside Jason Lee in the Fox animated kids movie.”

The comment visibly appeared to stun talk show host Conan O’Brien. Very quickly, he realized Cross had made a verbal gaffe that was not only likely to cause tremendous grief for the actor but also to get his own show a tremendous amount of negative press. He then re-directed the conversation while his sidekick Andy Richter tried his best to get through the awkward moment while not making a big spectacle about the comment in front of the TBS live studio audience.

What do you think — should the franchise continue to cast David Cross in future Alvin and the Chipmunks films? Since antisemitism is frowned upon in Hollywood culture, one would think there will be career altering repercussions.

Pop music singer turned actor Justin Timberlake has already had a big year — and it is only the first week of 2012. His grandma spilled the beans to the press that he and actress Jessica Biel finally got engaged after dating on and off for years. The Hollywood icon who is famous for starring in the hit movie The Social Network, a dramatization about the history of the social networking site facebook, also bought up a big stake in MySpace in an attempt to save the struggling network. Now, in addition to his change in career goals, single status, and investment portfolio, the former Disney kid has added yet another difference in his new look. He’s grown a full beard.

“A bearded Justin Timberlake hits the stage at a Panasonic press event on Monday (January 9) in Las Vegas. Matt Hardy and his younger brother, Jeff Hardy, have been one of the most popular young wrestler teams in pro wrestling the last decade. Known affectionately as the Hardy Boyz, they have collectively held six World Wrestling Entertainment World Tag Team Championship titles. But both the boys have been involved in a drug war. Battling addictions to drugs and alcohol, they each have had multiple run ins with police.

In November of 2011, Matt Hardy flunked a breathalyzer test and got himself bounced out of celebrity rehab. Shortly thereafter, his girlfriend refused to bail him out of jail to the dismay of fans. But the real drama began back in September when Hardy announced (on September 19th that he was checking into a WWE-sponsored rehabilitation center for 90 days). Why was asking for help a scandal? Because he wasn’t checking in voluntarily. It seems the court ordered the wild Hardy Boyz champ to check in because he had already been arrested so many times in the prior months.

Deputies claim Matt Hardy of WWE fame had drugs in his possession he planned to sell. “Deputies said they had discovered one hit of the drug known as ecstasy and also found 20 vials of anabolic steroids…” says The Pilot.com, a wrestling blog. He also got a DUI, crashed his corvette into a tree, and got a DWI (a totally separate thing).

Regarding his resurrection and rise to fame, one fan writes, “Back in 1998, I infamously told my group of friends in Art class that the blonde guy from a new tag team named The Hardy Boyz would be the next Shawn Michaels…”

Patting himself on the back for calling it right, the Cageside Seat writer said, “World title reigns, drug abuse, and beloved by chubby girls nationwide? All that’s left is a conversion to Christianity and marrying a smokin’ hot wife and my prediction becomes completely accurate.”

His reason for thinking Jeff Hardy (minus his brother Matt Hardy) was still the greatest?

Because Jeff Hardy apparently did one of his famous flying Walenda leaps off a 20 foot ladder and destroyed CM Punk with a “Swanton Bomb”.

Jeff Hardy has also had his share of run-ins with the law. The Pilot shared, “Jeff Hardy is back competing in TNA Wrestling after he received 10 days in jail, 30 days probation and a $100,000 fine in a September plea bargain that stemmed from his 2009 arrest on drug charges.”

That’s Hollywood culture for ya. No matter how bad a celebrity athlete messes up off the field (on in this case outside the ring), they are always accepted by the fans as long as their athletic prowess remains. It is too bad these same celebrity athletes are children’s role models and heroes, as their morals away from the sport make their lifestyles questionable at best and at worst utterly fake.

Why is actor Christian Bale quitting Batman? The better questions are, “Who cares?” and “Does it matter, really?”

In terms of reputation as a Hollywood actor, Bale bailing from the franchise can only be good for any future movie endeavors. He is known to be a bit of a bully on set and in his personal life. Well, actually, saying he is only a bit mean and cruel to other people and underlings seems to be an understatement. Actually, there are plenty of video clips and full transcripts of his various rants.

He actually comes across like someone with a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) who has impulse control with regards to blurting. Some people who have worked with him in the past equate his violent temper and verbal rages with someone who is manic.

Sweet-natured Anne Hathaway was his co-star this time around in the Dark Knight Rises. She has been suspiciously quiet about her co-star and his typically unfriendly antics.

There are sneaking suspicious among Hollywood insiders that Bale might have been disgruntled that the press and comic book movie forums have spent all their time talking about her playing Catwoman rather than him playing Batman.

Could the actor have been experiencing a bit of press envy?

One can only hope — and here’s why.

Anne Hathaway is a green celebrity. Famous as a humanitarian and LGBT rights crusader, she has consistently been involved with supporting a wide variety of charity benefits over the years. Since she was 15-years-old she has spoken openly about her gay brother and supporting civil rights establishment for the entire gay community. She’s volunteered a ton of time and donated lots of money to children’s charities — her favorite being the Lollipop Theater.

Bale, on the other hand, is famous for throwing temper tantrums and acting like a bully to both cast, his producers, directors, and crew.

For that reason, giving free press to another actor who is in the same good will league as actress Anne Hathaway would be far easier than it is to say nice things about Bale. Because Batman used to be a comic book movie series loved by ‘tweens and teens (as well as grown-up kids), having turned the series dark and hiring a real-life anti-hero to play the protagonist part depresses fans who want to use their consumer buying power to support those star celebs who are good people on camera and off.

Frightened of being kidnapped by zombies, monsters, and aliens? If you live in the LA area you can enjoy feeding your fears this Halloween holiday season by going to spend time with them willingly.

“At a time when mega-entertainment conventions like San Diego’s Comic-Con International attract big-name stars, thousands of attendees and a blinding glare of media attention, those prepping for Aliens to Zombies say small, niche gatherings like theirs offer their own kind of allure…” writes the LA Times. What are they talking about? None other than the first annual Aliens to Zombies Convention, an event local Los Angeles news sources are promoting as an invasion, “that will bring together visual-effects artists with specialists in the other-worldly for panel discussions, creature-crafting competitions and more…” this Halloween season.

The creepy but cool convention was held at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel this weekend (October 21, 22, 23 in 2011).

Kicked off this year with a Friday night Halloween Book Festival, event organizers Todd Masters and Bruce Haring presented an award for Mike Howlett’s “The Weird World of Eerie Publications: Comic Gore That Warped Millions of Young Minds.”

The special event also features a Monster Zoo, a competition to design the best low-cost Halloween costume, and attendees say there has already been a myriad number of panel discussions and forums about the longstanding Hollywood debate — which demographic is cooler… creepy monsters like zombies that want to eat us alive or terrifying aliens who plan to use UFO space craft to destroy all life as we know it on our planet.

Haring told the LA Times, “There’s a rich trope of zombie literature and horror and science fiction that we’re hoping becomes a big part of what we’re doing [with Aliens to Zombies].” He and Masters plan to grow the event from year to year and are already using their Hollywood connections from MastersFX (Todd’s company that handles the special effects for the hit HBO vampire and werewolf glorifying series True Blood) to draw in both crowds and future show participants.

Healthy or not, here she comes! Put a little South in your mouth! That is the slogan on a new tube of butter flavor lip gloss being marketed by none other than celebrity chef Paula Deen.

Perez Hilton made note of the fun cosmetic news on October 18th. He writes, “Can’t you just use actual butter for this? Or do we just not understand the core concept of lip balm? Ha!”

The celebrity gossip blogger further noted, “We kid, but it’s true: Paula Deen is selling butter flavored lip balm”.

Hilton also mentioned the notable foodie’s unhealthy obsession with butter that has made the Southern gal famous, saying, “We get the feeling she owns 85% of this nation’s butter resources or something with how much she promotes it.”

Deen recently appeared on the Dr. Oz Show to take a calorie cutting challenge. Hoping to lower the calorie count on some of her most famous meals she had one hit (replacing fried chicken with a baked version) and one miss — creating something that looked more like a brick substitution than anything edible by humans.

During her celebrity interview she admitted an addiction to smoking a pack and a half of cigarettes a day, to french fries, and that her favorite item in her kitchen is a deep fryer.

Despite her unhealthy habits, she looked absolutely darling (as always) — just like the perfect Deep South mom or mamaw [grandmother] everyone always wanted to have as a next door neighbor.

So, now that she’s getting into butter flavored lip gloss, one has to wonder… how long do you think it will be before Weird Al Yankovic does a song parody of Katy Perry‘s hit tune “I Kissed A Girl”?

Hollywood culture often involves glamorizing romantic drama. There are no two actresses more famous in Hollywood for being rival to one another than Angelina Jolie and Jennifer Aniston. That’s why Twilight actress Ashley Greene is comparing herself and her relationship to pop music singer Demi Lovato to the famous ladies who still are allegedly at war over Brad Pitt.

You see, Greene was rumored to have stolen a boyfriend from the younger (and subsequently troubled) teen. The object of their affection was singer Joe Jonas of the Jonas Brothers. While Greene and Jonas have broken up, the pretty brunette who plays the psychic vampire character Alice in the Twilight movie series still feels like the press unfairly compare her to Jolie.

But on October 18th, 2011 Perez Hilton said he really was not clear whether or not Ashley Greene sees herself as more like Angie or Jen — and claimed the rumor mills reports that Greene was a home wrecker were never on parallel with the Aniston-Pitt breakup rumors because there was no marital infidelity. He also alluded to his opinion that Greene is in no way in the same class as his beloved “St. Angelina” — a woman he loves dearly as a famous humanitarian and LGBT celebrity.

For that reason, one has to wonder — is breaking up another woman’s relationship more hurtful when a girl is young (because it leaves a lasting impression) or when it is serious and involves matrimony?

In the case of Demi Lovato, she went on to have an emotional breakdown that landed her in rehab — followed by a brave confession she is bi-polar. Subsequently, she made a triumphant return to the public arena with a new hit song about surviving and rebounding called “Skyscraper”.

Aniston rebounded by dating a slew of men, then allegedly split up another woman’s relationship to land herself a live-in lover that she currently totes with her everywhere she goes now (a guy named Justin Theroux). Her fans continue to swear up and down that she is an angel and that Brad Pitt was stolen by Angelina Jolie.

Do female stars home-wrecking, husband swapping, trading up spouses, or cheating with one another’s boyfriends create a negative impression of women for fans and teens mature enough to read the tabloid headlines but not yet old enough to understand the adult world of relationships?

Bottom line, it seems that Greene has made a wise distinction between herself and Angelina Jolie. Noting to fans that she and Disney Princess Demi Lovato have never had a problem with one another — and never having bashed the young celeb in public for anything — she reminds us all that the same can’t fully be said about Brangelina vs. Jennifer Aniston (whose press camps always seem to be in a passive aggressive war of words).
