In a huge upset, Disney Princess Chelsea Kane and partner Mark Ballas wound up in third place on the 2011 season of Dancing with the Stars [DWTS Season 12]. The pair had an incredible run and were favored to win the competition, though Hines Ward and Kirstie Alley both were incredible competition. Ballas and Kane, being one of the youngest pairs of competitors on the dance floor all season, had some of the most energetic and acrobatic routines. From their jive, which Len Goodman criticized as not having enough jive quality, to their samba, with Chelsea Kane sporting an orange spangled ensemble, Team Kanenball took youth and energy to the floor all night long. That they lost to Hines Ward and Kirstie Alley is surprising, since they chose for their final dance the Harry Potter Waltz for a second time, which easily was one of their signature dances during the competition. They got all tens from the judges, a perfect score, but the voting audience was not as confident. Ultimately, Hines Ward and partner Kym Johnson won the competition, with Kirstie Alley and Maksim Chmerkovskiy coming in second place. All three pairs of competitors earned perfect scores from the judges, but the audience hearts and minds went to Hines and Kym.

Gomez was on the Malibu Beach set for her latest music video, Love You Like a Love Song, with pink horses, and it has animal rights activists abuzz, reports PopEater. Namily, star celeb Pink herself has lashed out over Twitter, calling out the Disney Princess for animal cruelty.

Twitter has Pink saying on May 19, 2011:

If there are any animal activists around Malibu- at Leo Cabrillo State Beach, there are horses being painted for a stupid music video. Shame

Pink followed up on May 20 with comments confirming that she finally realized who was responsible for the Pink ponies and calling Selena Gomez to own up to her actions and take responsibility. She has called for Disney fans to lash out and express their anger at the Disney princess.

But representatives for Selena Gomez have assured that the horses were not harmed by the color change, and what Disney princess wouldn’t want a pink pony of her very own? Fan reactions largely have remained mixed, with some cheering Pink for speaking out and others dismissing the pinky pony stunt as silly but harmless.

Kirstie Alley and partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy went all out for the freestyle competition, with Kirstie starting off the routine, surprising the crowd by tearing out of a baggish looking dress into a black leotard and turning a cartwheel. The celebrity senior turned heads. Carrie Ann remarked after the routine: “That dance embodies what you have become – as a poster child for life as it should be lived at 60 years old,” according to USA Today.

Even Bruno and Len gave the star celeb credit for the routine. Bruno remarked that Kirstie Alley seemed to have gone all out, with lifts and gymnastics that she never would have attempted when she started the season. Len, typically the most critical of the bunch, said that she took risks, and he was impressed with the risks she took. In spite of being an audience favorite, the pair scored all nines, leaving them two points behind their competitors by the end of the night.
