Wonder Woman costume gets third celebrity makeover after criticism from Linda Carter?

The new Wonder Woman outfit is not so super as an iconic costume says past Super Hero Linda Carter. Or at least that is what The Hollywood Reporter seemed to imply in an article about the celebrity makeover dated March 30. But what is the real story behind the comic book heroine and her keen fashion sense that made history?
The new 2011 Hollywood version of the wardrobe for the gold rope toting gal who fought on the side of right while wearing American inspired patriotic emblems flashed across her boobs and back side in the days of old is now lackluster at best say bloggers and comic book fans.
Proposed first as a modified sketch of the actress hired to play Wonder Woman, the Super Heroine was supposed to be dressed all in squeaky pleather looking vinyl. While the choice to wear the non-leather outfit might have made quite a few vegans happy, Americans who take their comic book super hero movies and television series seriously thought the outfit was hooker-endous. What’s more, it looked like Wonder Woman (invisible or not) could not sneak up on anybody.
Linda Carter was the actress who most remember as the Wonder Woman figure from the 1970s. With flowing dark brown raven locks, big blue eyes, and legs up to her neck, her satin hot pants and knee high boots worn with the most uplifting of bustiers was a celebrity fashion memorable to… well, quite frankly, just about everybody.
You did not have to be a man to be impressed by Linda Carter’s beauty. Linda Carter’s Measurements back int he day were 38-26-38, and she competed in Miss World USA pageant and Miss World USA, 1972 says Celebrity Sleuth magazine. The half Irish, half Mexican beauty was iconic with out without her lead role in the New Adventures of Wonder Woman television series simply because she was so lovely. Put her in a sexy super hero costume and BAM! The woman — as a woman’s role model and advocate for justice — became a vital part of American pop culture history.
As a green celebrity herself, Linda Carter has participated with many charity benefits over the years. She’s even hosted her own annual golf tournament for charity. Well liked, respected, and admired for her role in Hollywood social circles, when she gave the anti-nod on the new Wonder Woman costume idea, the new producers apparently took her fashionista diva critique seriously.
In new photos released from the set where NBC came under fire when it released the first photo of Adrianne Palicki as Wonder Woman earlier this month, you can see the all blue vinyl legs and boots on the sketch model have been replaces by what some are calling more comfortable and quieter Wonder Woman jeggings, and the iconic Wonder Woman knee high boots are red again.
What is noticeably absent from the costume is the tiny waist and large amounts of visible skin, which Linda Carter bared better that a pageant beauty queen strolling down a runway in fornt of judges while she was dressed and ready for a bikini swimsuit pretend swim.
The concept version of the pants took away the white stars but a gold version has apparently been added back on down the legs again. Similar tops are worn by both actresses, but Linda seemed to fill hers out more than the new Wonder Woman does. [Not that it really matters, but still. She used to have a voluptuous figure and now the character looks a bit too much like an 80s hair band retro bar crawler who is stick thin.]
Has the very real fact that the Hollywood idea weight for starlets shrunk influenced both the costume and casting for the new Wonder Woman role?
While Hollywood women used to be sexy thanks to their hourglass figures and dresses worn were size 6, 8, and 10 (small, medium, and large respectively), the new actress is considered normal weight at size 0, fuller figure at size 2, and rotund at size 4. [Just ask Jessica Simpson about that little change in history when it comes to a lady being a weight that is fashionable.]
So, while older folks from past generations who remember Linda Carter as the original Wonder Woman on TV might just have a preference for the leading lady to be more old school sexy, the younger generations might like the Hero unifrom on Palicki.
