Celebrate World Environment Day with Gisele by going green for a day?
[Jun. 4]
Nations from all over the celebrate World Environment Day (WED), an annual holiday observed every June 5th. WED was officially launched by the United Nations General Assembly back in 1972. The holiday was created to help raise worldwide awareness of environmental issues, climate change, and the need for what eco-friendly people call positive environmental action. Latin supermodel Gisele Bundchen, originally from Brazil, and wife of celebrity athlete football player Tom Brady is challenging Americans and global citizens to go green for the day. The radiantly beautiful international supermodel, Gisele Bundchen hails from her home country of Brazil. A natural born athlete, originally Gisele had planned to become a professional volleyball player. Luckily for us, she instead decided to become the world-famous supermodel that we know today — and is going green!
In 1993, Gisele joined a modeling course at the urgency of her mother. While away on a trip she was discovered by a modeling agency while dining at McDonald’s. In 1996, young and beautiful Gisele moved to NY City to begin her modeling career in the States, debuting at the New York Fashion Week. An angel in her own right, Latin beauty was greatly popularized as one of the Victoria Secret Angels from 2000 to 2007. Today, according to Forbes magazine, Gisele Bundchen is the highest paid, and the first ever billionaire supermodel!
Gisele Bunchen’s five year on again off again relationship with then boyfriend and fellow green celebrity Leonardo Dicaprio, ended in 2005. Gisele is now married to NFL athlete, Tom Brady of the New England Patriots. Together they have a son, Benjamin born in 2009.
Taking her role as UNEP Goodwill ambassador to heart, Bundchen is heavily participating with this year’s World Environment Day (WED) like never seen before. Together with other star celebs including, Don Cheadle of Ocean’s Eleven, and with the help of the United Nations, Gisele Bundchen has pledged to plant a tree for every activity registered in her name. Whether its switching from plastic bags to cloth bags, planting a tree in the community, or carpooling with fellow employees, she wants to know and will duplicate your efforts by planting a tree for your efforts. World Environment Day is a United Nations Environment programme, with the intent of enlightening the world of how important it is for each individual to do their part to make the Earth more beautiful and healthy for everyone to share. They focus on the awareness of individual communities, families, schools, and other organizations to take a stand against passively destroying the environment in which we live. We all have a role in keeping our planet as clean and unharmed as possible and have the opportunity to participate with worldwide awareness.
