Which 51-year-old Green Mile actor married a 16-year-old girl?
[Jun. 21]
Doug Anthony Hutchison. That is the name of the 51-year-old actor who married a 16-year-old girl. The age difference did not daunt them — the celebrity couple is claiming their romance is — get this — ageless. What makes a man who is 35 years a girl’s senior become smitten with a celebrity teen? First off, a permissive mother who wants her country music singing daughter to prosper and succeed — one willing to sign off and allow the marriage to take place with her consent. Second, you give the teen a banging body and long blond hair and make her look 33. Actor Doug Hutchison is a veteran Hollywood movie star (but he is not well-known). His new wife is sweet sixteen year old aspiring country music singer Courtney Alexis Stodden. The bride is a beauty pageant contestant with big dreams — and who likely knows that her new husband will do whatever it takes to fund her success in Hollywood and will back her with his Dark Waters production company. You see, Doug Hutchison is not some run of the mill actor who has starred in a few movies here and there. He’s played DHARMA honcho Horace Goodspeed on the hit and was a regular in the LOST television series. When Courtney Stodden met the older gent, obviously the dazzle and flash of both money and Hollywood movie and television experience — along with a slew of celebrity friends — dazzled the teen and her mother has encouraged the matrimonial state of events.
So, in Nevada — if you want to marry a teen bride you can do so with a parents informed letter of consent? The simple answer to that question is yes. That might sound crazy — but most states have similar rules in the US (and as a matter of fact, so y’all know in some states is still okay to marry your first cousin… yeehaw and all that).
How will most of the groom’s celebrity friends feel when he parades the celebrity teen on the red carpet and to private party events?
Most likely the same way the rest of America feels — a bit creeped out, very sad for the young girl (who might earn fame and cash but who will inevitably grow up and find out she is likely to be the adult in the relationship), and hoping the star celebs don’t break one another’s heart by or bank account by mixing themselves up legally with a marriage in the middle of all the rest.
Even Glamour magazine news writer Lindsey Unterberger had this to say about the strange news celebrities, echoing the tone in Hollywood about such an old guy taking a teen trophy wife. Regarding the wedding, she said:
I’m not all that judgmental when it comes to May-December relationships–especially those in Hollywood. I’m really not. Hugh Hefner, 85, coming this close to marrying 25-year-old Crystal Harris? Fine, whatever makes ya happy. But when a girl still needs her parents’ signature (and this one did!) to marry her 51-year-old fiance, I get a little uppity.
For those curious about the wedding ceremony details, EW revealed:
The newlyweds said their vows last month in Las Vegas. The actor broke the news only his personal website, writing, “Doug Anthony Hutchison and Courtney Alexis Stodden became husband and wife on Friday May 20th, 2011, at 12 pm in The Little Chapel of Flowers in Las Vegas, Nevada.”
Making the event a bit more disturbing to us but of interest as green celebrities is the fact that Doug Hutchison and Courtney Stodden are pet friendly. He added, “Mr. and Mrs. Hutchison live together happily ensconced in their Hollywood Hills home with their lil’ pups, Everette and Tuna.”
When we first read the line, we thought the celebrity couple was happily ensconced in their celebrity home MAKING lil’ pups. To that thought — for the young lady’s sake — we hoped not.
See why it pays to read entertainment news more carefully?
Here’s a link to a YouTube video that feature pictures of the Live Barbie Doll… we mean Courtney Stodden — singing a song to thank the American military troops for their sacrifice.
Honest officer — after seeing the pictures we would never dream this girl is under 18. Or was not famous for being in a Motley Crue “Girls, Girls, Girls” video. Anna Nicole Smith must be fist pumping in her grave watching the celebrity gossip and fame star rise for this young, young lady.
