Actor Jeff Bridges might be world-famous for his vast array of acting appearances in Hollywood films, but at least for this week his mind is on song. And mansions. And making money. As a green celebrity, he’s acted as a humanitarian, advocating for those in need; as a movie star and musician, he’s more famous for his good work (rather than his good deeds). With a new self-titled album heading to market this week, the lyrics he has chosen to feature are both catchy and telling.
“You can have a mansion; you can have $20-million in the bank. You can have a 12-car garage; golden fixtures and a marble sink.” Jeff Bridges can be heard singing in one of the tunes. Music reviewer Brad Wheeler writes, “The song, a slow steel-guitar shuffle, is written by John Goodwin, who may have had his long-time friend Bridges in mind, in respect to the bankroll and bathroom luxury and such.”
His motto — Jeff Bridges will work for food — has helped him raise lots of money (funds that have probably helped a few poor families get back on their feet dancing to his music whenever and wherever they could).
You see, for all his copious good deeds helping people in poverty and around the world who need food, Bridges is still a fabulously wealthy (and talented) dude. Son of actor Lloyd Bridges, he’s inherited a small fortune [as the silver lining to growing up famous under his celebrity parents cloud], we’re sure. But on his own as an actor, he’s netted a constant stream of movie star paychecks, too.
Most recently, Hollywood insiders revealed Jeff Bridges will co-star with The River Wild actor Kevin Bacon in a new dramatic police movie called R.I.P.D. Bacon is the host of Six Degrees of Separation, a charitable initiative. Bridges is even getting a chance to work on the film with hot new actor Ryan Reynolds — who, in addition to being smart, funny, and a fitness god (with a lean physique men would die to have and women love to drool over) an advocate for clean energy.
Talk about having celebrity friends to die for!
Based on their senses of humor and like-minded humanitarian charity efforts, the three green celebrity actors should get along fine — and are likely to stay close long after filming.
Will his latest upcoming movie gross him enough money to buy new mansions, more cool cars than he already owns, or help keep him in the gauche trappings Hollywood wealth and fame are said to bring? According to Celebrity Net Worth, his income has not yet been calculated.
However, regarding finances he must have been fairly confident. Why? Because he turned down the role of “Indiana Jones” (played by green lifestyle advocate Harrison Ford) — and that’s pretty ballsy. What’s more, he says he never regretted it for a minute.
Perhaps that is why “The Dude” (as his friends call him) is known as one of the more bohemian and laid back actors in Hollywood.
Since he only works on projects that interest him, the star of recent hits like Tron (with vegetarian actress Olivia Wilde), Crazy Heart (with Maggie Gyllenhaal), and True Grit (with actor Matt Damon — the man documentary filmmaker Michael Moore says really ought to run against Barack Obama in the next election because he thinks the independent thinking Hollywood liberal would make a great president) can focus on doing what he loves most: acting and making sweet, sweet music.
Way to rock it, Jeff. We’ll be listening.
