Getting razzed for donating money to help the homeless? Funny actor Charlie sheen not winning points with the press for getting involved with charitable celeb snafu in South America.
TMZ razzed charitable actor Charlie Sheen for making efforts to help the homeless while he was on vacation in Mexico shortly after the Thanksgiving Weekend of 2011. They write, “Sporting a Panama hat … that was made in Ecuador … Charlie Sheen hit the streets of Colombia this week … and generously gave a homeless man a 2000 Peso Note!!!!” The site went on to say, “Unfortunately, the Colombian peso isn’t as strong as the dollar these days … not even close … so 2,000 p is only worth about $1.03.”
But, as they point out, “it’s the thought that counts, right?”
While Charlie Sheen is best known for his #winning personality, love of high priced hookers beautiful women, and getting involved in celebrity scandals, he is also a charitable celeb. The comedic actor regularly uses his star power with Gen X fans to help raise money for charity.
When the earthquake and tsunami hit Japan, he immediately took to his twitter account to share requests to make donations to help the victims and their families.
He’s made many special guest appearances over the years at charity benefits, and has given his celebrity endorsement to non-profit organizations like the Lili Claire Foundation (an organization that helps special needs children and their families) and Aid for AIDS.
Charlie Sheen also created his own charity foundation in April of 2011. His first big charity benefit project was to raise money for a baseball fan named Brian Stow, the man who was critically injured after a Los Angeles Dodgers game when rival fans attacked.
CNN reports the actor’s Sheen’s Corner foundation donated profits, “from merchandise sales” from one of his spoken word tour appearances in San Francisco to help the wounded man. “Stow, a 42-year-old San Francisco Giants fan, has been in a medically induced coma since he was brutally beaten in the Dodger Stadium…” reported the news source, giving big props to Charlie Sheen for making donations to help people in need.
And, of course, being the famous humanitarian he is, he’s been willing to pull money out of his own pocket to help the homeless men and women he meets on the street.
It’s just this time he did not have enough on him (apparently) to make a big impression with his charitable gift to the homeless man.
Unless, of course, you are a fan of actor Charlie Sheen and know that once he reads the headlines on TMZ, he’s likely to laugh out loud and say, “Well, shi$…”
For that reason, we wanted to take a moment to say, “Sorry, Charlie” and give him props for doing good deeds.
