Taylor Swift has made another story telling music video clip to go along with her new country song “Ours” [a ballad bonus track from last year’s Speak Now]. To the delight of American military families and people who are pet friendly, the video debuted Friday December 2nd, 2011 on E!
Go right ahead and accuse singer Taylor Swift of being catty. She’ll tell you she is — because she is crazy about her new cat Meredith. The pet friendly teen scene celeb is growing up to be a lovely young lady. Her new video was filmed with Friday Night Lights cutie-pie Zach Gilford playing with her kitty.
If that sounds racy — it isn’t… don’t worry.
Think Taylor Swift is growing up too swiftly? Now that she’s a legal adult and has a few more years on the pond, slowly but surely her music and new videos are beginning to deal with more adult subject matter (at least symbolically); however, parents can breathe an open sigh of relief. “The videos show Swift and Gilford playing in the leaves, snuggling together, Gilford playing with Meredith the scene-stealing kitten, playful wrestling on the couch, etc…” says MTV, letting fans of the star know that Taylor Swift is still no Miley Cyrus.
She might not be growing up fast enough for the older men out there who think she is pretty but she’s right on time maturing in front of her teen and twenty-something fan base as they enter early adulthood, start having long-term relationships, head off to join the military, or enroll in college.
[Taylor Swift was recently involved in a celebrity scandal when someone claiming to have a nude photo of her went viral on the internet. She is suing the website for falsely representing the pic was of her.]
“That Taylor Swift sure does know how to work the “awww!” effect into her music, and even more so in her sweet and wholesome music videos, with their varying themes on love: whether it be lost, won or rekindled…” writes MTV.
The video (as all Taylor Swift videos do so far) tells a story. In the end of this one, she gets surprised by her lost love in a tender soldier comes home moment. He returns to her arms after serving in the military.
For that reason alone (with or without the pet friendly moment sure to win the hearts of many), the video clip will surely go viral among military family members. Many expect their personal family heroes will be returning soon from active duty and overseas deployment before the holidays and presidential election of 2012.
Country music singers like Taylor Swift are reminding them all that Americans love them, appreciate their active duty deployments, and that even if we disagree with the reasons for war, we love our American war heroes for spending time doing humanitarian work all over the world.
Watch the new Taylor Swift video and meet Meredith the cat…
When it comes to finding anything wrong a celebrity has done, Taylor Swift sure makes it tough for the Hollywood crowd to compete with her. In a nutshell, this bright and sunshine-y young lady (both on camera and off) appears to be almost perfect.
Why do we say almost?
Isn’t it obvious??? Because she named her cat Meredith after Ellen Pomeos TV character.
US Weekly reported the cute but banal news.
“Her name is Meredith — Meredith Grey because she’s a gray cat, and because I love Grey’s Anatomy!” she told Us Weekly in a celebrity interview before winning the Entertainer of the Year Award at the 2011 Country Music Awards.
“She’s awesome. She’s like one of those cats that give cats a good name,” the pet friend celeb allegedly gushed to the tabloid.
“She doesn’t hide under furniture and get weird around people. She’s really friendly and fun and she’s perfect for the road because she doesn’t ever get freaked out. So I’m really glad that she has a cool personality.”
While her cat might remind her of a famous television character, Swift herself reminds us of the angel that sits on top of the Christmas tree each year. Light, bright, delicate, and beloved to all who have seen her, she is a priceless representation of everything that is still good about the youth of this world.
Merry Christmas, Taylor. Thanks for sharing your gifts… we hope to continue to pass your songs down from generation to generation like our tree topper year after year.
