Too bad Kim Kardashian faked wedding but won’t wear fake fur says PETA! The animal rights organization cited the famous reality TV star as one of the worst star celebs of 2011 when it came to protecting animals. Right or wrong to make the comparison between a celebrity divorce and a fashion statement, while they praised sister Khloe Kardashian for supporting their cause the only thing they didn’t do was resort to allegations that Kim K was acting more like a cat in heat or that she threw her NBA basketball player husband to the dogs.
Reality television star Kim Kardashian may have made Santa’s nice list this year, but PETA and Santa aren’t seeing eye to eye if that’s the case. Both the reality television star and star celeb rocker Janet Jackson earned Celebrity Grinch awards from PETA [People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals], for flaunting furs in 2011 instead of taking the sustainable green position of sporting faux fur.
According to Hollywood Life, PETA had this to say about Kim Kardashian:
“Some have speculated that Kim Kardashian’s wedding to NBA forward Kris Humphries was fake. Too bad the socialite princess doesn’t have the same enthusiasm for faking her fur. Unlike her sweet sister Khloe, who starred in her own PETA anti-fur ad, Kim just can’t seem to divorce herself from fur and say ‘I do’ to a kind and kompassionate wardrobe.”
Ouch. Kim Kardashian has been through a lot this year, including her 72-day marriage to former beau Kris Humphries, for which she’s been endlessly criticized. Whether it was a PR stunt or not (and true fans are quick to assure you it was no stunt), Kim was quick to get back on the charity bandwagon, volunteering personal time and not just pocketbook parlance to help out in Haiti earlier this month. Though a lot of people claimed she was there just for a photo shoot, People magazine made it clear that she wasn’t there for a fashion show.
“While my experience was completely life-changing … a very emotional and surprisingly positive journey that I will never forget, some media outlets have tried to tarnish the motive behind my visit and have written completely ridiculous and untrue things,” she wrote.
For what it’s worth, sister and green celebrity Khloe Kardashian, actually has starred in an anti-fur commercial.
Whether PETA is criticizing Kim Kardashian for an earlier faux pas (tee-hee) or not, we have faith that a kompashionate and karing Kim Kardashian will continue to work in humanitarian charity and see that green is the way to go.
Did Kim Kardashian slip into something self-absorbed, styling herself in fur and playing PR ratings games with marriage? Or did the most famous of the Kardashian sisters just have a rough year like a lot of us and make a few mistakes (maybe with momager Kris Jenner’s help)? Is PETA being too harsh? Tell us what you think.
