Justin Bieber tweets request for privacy to protect fam?
An avid user of Facebook and Twitter, social media mogul Justin Bieber finally used his star power [perhaps] wisely today. Very politely, he took to Twitter on Sunday June 5, 2011 to send a message out to his fans, many who have gone out of their way to see him in concert on his Never Say Never Tour and buy his music.
His simple request? The Biebs was asking fans with Bieber fever to give he and his family some down time and privacy.
Why? Because ever since he and Selena Gomez embarked on their very romantic adult vacation to Hawaii and Texas and his home in Canada, the press has hounded them — and posted some very graphic young lovers pics of their glamorous luxury vacation trip.
The two celebrity teens are experiencing their first real adult romance — and for better or for worse the paparazzi photographers have been documenting their Memorial Day Weekend holiday love story on camera. Privacy is something that many entertainers do not have. Teen singer and humanitarian green celebrity Justin Bieber is realizing that with fame comes a lot of intrusions on your personal life.
Justin Bieber has worked with the charity, Pencils of Promise. This is a charitable foundation that helps train children and young adults today to be the leaders of tomorrow. Leadership, as Justin Bieber knows, is very important for teens, especially when peer pressure and bullying are to common. This charity is also supported by Desmond Tutu. But his good deeds as a famous humanitarian are not enough to keep his name out of the tabloids when it comes to sharing racy press.
While on vacation in Hawaii with friends, family, and girlfriend, singer Selena Gomez of the Disney show Wizards of Waverly Place, the Biebs felt the pressure of the media watching his every move. Hoping to smear his good name in a celebrity scandal or to photograph him in a celebrity oops moment with his girlfriend (or even better — away from her), the paparazzi seemed intent on catching him in the act.
But the pressure Biebs felt was normal to experience for any star celeb. With a mentor like singer Usher Raymond showing him the ropes of the entertainment business, what did Justin Bieber think being a celebrity would involve? That he could push a magic button and turn on or off the press?
Yes, he’s a brother, son, grandson, and boyfriend now of a Disney Princess (namely, the lovely young actress and pop music singer Selena Gomez). But once you achieve 10 million followers on Twitter and worldwide celebrity status, everybody wants a piece of you (whether you like it or not) — even if it is from a prying eyes paparazzi picture that helps promote Bieber fever.
But who was Justin Bieber really trying to protect by tweeting and asking fans for privacy? Himself? His family? Or Selena Gomez, his love interest? After all, when the news broke that Justin Bieber was dating Selena Gomez, the Disney princess even started receiving death threats from his die-hard Belieber fans.
Was the Biebs right in sending out a message to fans asking for privacy? Here’s what Justin Bieber tweeted on June 4th, 2011, already back from vacation in Hawaii:
i love my fans with all my heart. that isnt going to ever change. there will be times when i want privacy…when i want to be a big brother
or a son…or a grandson. and it isnt about me its about my friends or my family. I want that time.
that doesnt mean I dont love and appreciate my fans. we r a family 2. that isnt gonna change. i see all the comments. Im here. still justin
Reading these tweets, what do you see? Here is my take on the need for privacy as a celebrity teen.
Belky Says…
As a teen celebrity, singer Justin Bieber has a lot of pressure to keep up appearances, both on the road, in fornt of the camera, and off. Asking for privacy early on in his career might actually help him avoid the messes many teen celebs find themselves in as their careers grow. Teens such as Demi Lovato, have all but felt what it is like to feel the stress of being a performer in the entertainment business. Another point to consider is that Justin Bieber is also protecting his family in asking for privacy. When Hollywood stars have trouble in their lives, their family and friends will be the ones to help them. If Justin is out to protect his family and personal relationships, this request for privacy is a good move in my humble opinion as a licensed couples therapist.
How do you think Justin Bieber did in asking fans for privacy? Was it a good move on his part? Or not so much?
