Green celebrity actor and producer Alan Cumming, already known for his support of global health concerns through work with charities like American Foundation for AIDS Research, the Global Fund, and Stand Up to Cancer, has made a New Year’s Resolution to go completely vegan in 2012. He credits his decision to former heavyweight boxing champ Mike Tyson. Believe it or not, Mike Tyson, with his violent past, has been a vegan since 2010, in spite of criticism that he wouldn’t stick with it. Shortly after it appeared, the rumor mills report had caught the eye of hip-hop magnate Russell Simmons (who promptly tweeted his support). That is until the cover image was revealed to be a hoax, following a discovery that the People cover sidebar is one from a 2006 issue of the magazine. Latin beauty queen Eva Ekvall died from breast cancer on December 17th after an unsuccessful battle to treat her malady in the United States. A former Miss Venezuela turned actress and news anchor, died on that Saturday after showing her family and friends she bore the illness with both poise and grace. After being diagnosed, the former beauty queen and Latin icon used her star power wisely in her final days. She wrote a book after being diagnosed with breast cancer last year then used her public profile as an international celebrity to help raise public awareness about living with breast cancer as a life threatening disease. Easily one of the least humanitarian celebrity leaders in history, Team America movie character Kim Jong Il suffered an overdose of the Western lifestyle he loved so much. He had diabetes and heart disease, ultimately succumbing to a heart attack. One lesson he failed to learn was one of moderation. It was his excessive policies and excessive control that ruined North Korea. It was his excessive and hypocritical personal taste that ruined him. New Muppet on Sesame Street bullied for being poor by IRL conservatives?
Muppet creators are known for introducing tough topics on societal and humanitarian issues since its inception in 1969, showcasing its cast of multicultural characters. Today it’s no different with Sesame Workshop, the nonprofit organization that produces Sesame Street. The organization is introducing a new muppet resident on Sesame Street, according to the New York Times, and her name is Lily. Lily is a normal 7-year-old muppet girl, but she has a problem.
