American Idol 2012 moved one step closer to crowning a winner when they shrank the Top 4 to the Top 3 on May 10th. Those remaining contestants were Joshua Ledet, Phillip Phillips, Hollie Cavanagh, and Jessica Sanchez. Ledet gave what judges said was one of the best performances on the show ever, that Sanchez really knocked it out of the park, and that Phillips gave yet another rock star performance but they said Cavanagh had chosen the wrong songs.The crowd empathetically had booed her, but heading into the viewer vote hers was the weakest performance by far. When the bottom two were Hollie Cavanagh and Colton Dixon, viewers and the judges were shocked to hear that he — not she — had been voted off American Idol 2012 by America. Dixon apologized to the judges, said he would pay attention to their criticisms when he’s making an album, and kept his head up defiantly throughout the elimination process. But really, the reason American might have voted him off was because Colton Dixon sang a Lady Gaga tune without thanking her on stage afterwards. American Idol 2012: Phillip Phillips object of Jennifer Lopez affections?
Phillip Phillips took to the American Idol 2012 stage on April 18 and managed to fluster celebrity judge Jennifer Lopez with his sexy vocals. Singing a tune by Usher, the hot young singer from Georgia managed to truly own it. With a backup band of acoustical instruments, he played the guitar while seated and absolutely killed it. It was truly a magical moment on American Idol — one that any music fan would say was worth every minute of taking a time out from their hectic lives to sit down, tune in, and to turn up the volume while he performed it. Back in 2002, Clark hosted a special 50th anniversary edition of American Bandstand with one very special guest performer. Michael Jackson, the green celebrity who has been remembered by his friends and fans for his philanthropic deeds far more than any celebrity scandal his name was involved in, had been a frequent special guest performer on the show over the years.
