What is a green celebrity? An eco-friendly, pet friendly, or humanitarian celeb who uses their star power wisely. For example, actress Angelina Jolie is a Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations. Her partner Brad Pitt studies how to build sustainable architecture in his spare time. The two donate nearly half their annual income from making movies to charitable causes. Actor George Clooney is a humanitarian celebrity who organized a telethon to help the victims of natural disaster when a major earthquake hit Haiti. Actress Olivia Wilde is a vegetarian. So are actresses Pamela Anderson, Anne Hathaway, Natalie Portman, and Alicia Silverstone. Actress Betty White is a pet-friendly celebrity who has rescued pets, donated large amounts of money to animal rescue centers, and believes animals have rights, too. Actor Ed Begley, Jr. is an eco-friendly celebrity who has added solar power systems and water conservation systems to his celebrity home. Want to know more about what is a green celebrity? Green Homes: 90 foot New York apartment makes tenant a celebrity?

90 foot New York apartment makes tenant a celebrity?
[Apr. 2]
What do you do when you’re a poor writer, perhaps a wannabe green celebrity, and you live in Manhattan? The big city is not necessarily known for its green lifestyle except to superstars like Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford, and Catherine Zeta-Jones. And even these green celebrity superstars have recently listed homes in New York for sale. Feeling the crunch perhaps?
In spite of the odds, writer Felice Cohen decided she wanted to live in Manhattan — Upper West Side Manhattan, in fact. But she didn’t have the $3,600 a month that a rental property in Manhattan typically costs. So, with the help of a friend, she made the best of it, landing a 90 square foot (12×7) microstudio for just over $700 a month.
In a video she has made, Felice Cohen, who also touts herself as a professional organizer, knows how to go green when it comes to making the most out of such a small place. This aspiring (and inspiring!) green celebrity has just a combination desk and shelf lining one wall, cleverly packed with plastic containers housing all her goodies, including a mini-refrigerator, a toaster oven (where she keeps her bananas), and the computer she writes from. Cabinet space above and below hold her kitchenware, which includes a hot pot and her dishes and utensils, since she the microstudio has no kitchen.

GoDaddy CEO shoots elephants to make viral videos?
[Apr. 1]
Have you heard this dark green news yet about the Go Daddy CEO hunting elephants for sport? Protestors are not yet upset with racing legend and television commercial celebrity Danica Patrick for her role as a GoDaddy girl. Danica Patrick, who is an Indianapolis 500 star the first woman to win an Indy race in the 2008 Indy Japan 300. She currently drives the GoDaddy car for Andretti Autosport. She had nothing to do with Parsons’ elephant hunt. Nor are people referencing The Biggest Loser reality star and celebrity health and fitness trainer, Jillian Michaels, who is known for her GoDaddy commercial appearance as the latest GoDaddy girl for the 2011 Superbowl. She remarked on her Facebook page that a non-televised and revealing picture of her hidden only by a GoDaddy logo was “tragic.” But CEO of GoDaddy, Bob Parsons, has come under fire for a viral video he released last month, which details his participation in killing a bull elephant in Zimbabwe, Africa. The viral video shows Bob Parsons firing the fatal shot. While only one bull elephant was killed in the hunt, the viral video has taken the internet by storm, and he is lacking in green celebrity points according to many.

National Museum of the American Indian Hosts Environmental Film Festival
Environmental Film Festival!
National Museum of the American Indian Hosts Environmental Film Festival —
[Mar. 13]
The Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian is one of the most interesting museums in downtown Washington, DC — and a pioneer cultural center that works to emphasize a lifestyle that is green. The museum staff will be hosting filmmakers Zacharias Kunuk and Ian Mauro for the U.S. première of Qapirangajuq: Inuit Knowledge and Climate Change—the world’s first Inuktitut-language documentary on the topic— Sunday, March 27, at 2 p.m. in the circular museum’s Rasmuson Theater.
According to museum workers, “this groundbreaking documentary captures the voices of those who are often overlooked in the discussion on climate change: the indigenous communities that are disproportionately affected by it. Inuit elders recall observations and customs passed down through centuries of storytelling and how their traditional ways of life are threatened by a warming Arctic. Their insight challenges mainstream accounts and reveals why climate change has become a human-rights issue for Native people.”
The new movie screening will be broadcast simultaneously online at www.isuma.tv, an independent network of Native and Inuit media, and at AmericanIndian.si.edu/webcasts. Film makes will be online and available to answer viewers questions.
Lost city of Atlantis destroyed by Earthquake Tsunami (just like Japan)?

Lost city of Atlantis destroyed by Earthquake Tsunami similar to the one that hit Japan?
[Mar. 12]
It’s been a decade now since Michael J. Fox, who is struggling with Parkinson’s, starred as the voice of Milo Thatch in the animated film Atlantis: The Lost Empire (2001), but not hearing the word Atlantis in the press as often has not dampened the spirits of those who search for it. Now, a team of scientists and geologists believe they may have discovered the fabled lost city of Atlantis … in Spain of all places. A U.S. lead archaeology research team believes they may have found the fabled Atlantis, a place that the Ancient philosophers and historians had mentioned as real but having been destroyed, in the mud flats of southern Spain. The exciting contemporary living history news comes as a timely announcement. Why? Because scientists believe it was washed away by a giant tsunami, one very similar to the earthquake tsunami experienced this week by the island nation of Japan.
