Dooms Day: End of the world May 21st, 2012, or 2nd Tuesday of next week?

Dooms Day!

End of the world May 21st, 2012, or 2nd Tuesday of next week?

[May 21]

Well, it’s May 21, 2011, and so far nobody (including John Cusack from the dooms day movie 2012) appears to be missing in the rapture or apocalypse or any other end of the world scenario. Skeptics are certain to say it never was going to happen, and others of faith are sure to claim there is a numbers game going on or that this is just the beginning of the end or the world as we once knew it already has ended. But fear not. [Or fear some more, if you prefer.] Another day next year looms on the calendar, and 2012 is the real year of the doomsday apocalypse, according to some who have dismissed May 21, 2011. Additionally, some Christians believe that May 21, 2011, could not possibly be the correct date, because scripture reports that no man will no the date or time, lending some credence to an unspecified date in 2012. However, skeptics remain, and rightfully so. Even the Maya say the ancient Maya calendar ending in 2012 is no cause for concern. As such, dooms day coming on the second Tuesday of next week seems to be the most definitive answer humans can know about when to expect the end of the world.

Evan Longoria baseball catch new chivalry commercial for Gillette or viral video magic moment?

[May 17]

One of the Most Shared and top Trending videos on Youtube May 16th was a video clip of Tampa Bay Ray baseball player Evan Longoria playing hero as a celebrity athlete playing the field. In a surely scripted move, Evan Longoria (not to be confused with Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria, ex-wife of NBA star Tony Parker — there is no relation) appears to save an on-field female sports reporter from certain injury by catching a line drive with his bare hands just above her threatened head. The now viral video started drawing an online audience late last week, but really took off like wildfire over the weekend when YouTube reports it drew over half a million views. But what was the origin of the video? Could it be a brand promotion stunt where a big name corporation funded to film it and then distributed the footage to make their celebrity athlete look like a real life super hero? YouTube analysts believe so.

Jean Claude Van Damme sued by Total Flex gym makers, why?

[May 17]

According to a lawsuit filed in Los Angeles, California, action movie hero Jean Claude Van Damme is rumored to have agreed to give his celebrity endorsement for a health and fitness product called the Total Flex gym. The contract seems to have been formalized back in February in Brussels… but according to the rumor mills, when the martial arts expert actor known for being all buzz and stud-muffin-ish thanks to his daily fitness routines showed up to the television set to film an infomercial, he had absolutely no idea how to use the workout equipment. From there, his day got weird. TMZ claims, “The infomercial producers claim Van Damme grew frustrated with his inability to operate the machine … even though JCVD’s wife figured it out right away.” So the tough guy fitness guru had to have a girl teach him how to work out on home gym equipment? Yep — and as that sort for rumor (if true) could easily predict, the machismo side of him did not role with that punch to spin a new angle in the infomercial. He simply pitched some sort of private hissy fit like a stereotypical hot male athlete celebrity superstar and revoked his agreement to publicly support the product he had been paid to tout.

Pink underwear and a handgun at Waldorf Astoria without Nic Cage, the leather, stolen exotic cars and high heels to go with it?

[May 10]

News flash — or flasher. Or crazy lady… or Angelina Jolie inspired fan of leather, high heels, and pink underwear, you decide. A 46-year-old woman from Danbury, CT, later identified as Marilyn Michose, was in the lobby of the Waldorf-Astoria wearing a pair of pink underwear over her pants, according to the New York Daily News. While it got some attention, the pink underwear wasn’t nearly as sexy as the pair Sway proposed to wear for Memphis in Nicolas Cage’s Gone in 60 Seconds.
