Eva Longoria cookbook better than Gwyneth Paltrow’s new book because she is a better cook?

Gwyneth Paltrow and Eva Longoria both have released a new celebrity chef cookbook recently, though the cookbook by Gwyneth Paltrow, My Father’s Daughter, is getting knocked for being too pretentious.

Foodie sources say the green celebrity actress comes from a far different background than that of Desperate Housewives green celebrity star and Golden Globe nominee Eva Longoria. Some people are saying that the cookbook by Gwyneth Paltrow is too pretentious for regular woman who don’t cook with duck bacon, soy milk, and 60 dollar olive oil.

Really? Go figure.

Gwyneth Paltrow comes from money, and her new website GOOP has come under heavy criticism for the Hollywood actress and star celebs friends offering ridiculous lifestyle advice no one other than those in Hollywood income brackets can afford.

But Eva Longoria, on the other hand, is a restaurant owner with Beso Steakhouse locations in Hollywood and Los Angeles. Despite the fact she’s made a tidy fortune on Desperate Housewives and working in L’Oreal commercials giving her celebrity endorsement to the French company’s make up products, she’s earned her fortune.

Eva Longoria, of Mexican descent, grew up the youngest of four children on a ranch in Texas with a mother, a special education teacher with a special needs daughter (the eldest), who always had dinner on the table by 6 p.m., according to TheCelebrityCafe.com.

“She had four kids going to four different schools, one with special needs (the oldest, Elizabeth), she had a full-time job and a husband who wanted dinner on the table every day at 6,” Eva Longoria, author of Eva’s Kitchen told USA Today.

Regarding her love of cooking, she told USA Today:

“It was like, ‘What? We’re not paying 20 bucks for pizza when we have tomatoes in the garden,’ ” says Longoria, who even while working at a Wendy’s during high school didn’t develop a taste for fast food. “I was never into that,” she says.

Eva Longoria recently divorced her husband, NBA star Tony Parker, after seven years together.

According to PerezHilton.com, she teared up a little bit when she spoke with Piers Morgan about the breakup. “It was heartbreaking because I had such an identity in being a wife, in being Mrs. Parker, so when that’s taken away from you, you go, ‘Who am I?’ That’s hard.”

Women everywhere who watched the clip and had been through a divorce themselves really got it.

And she tells PopEater.com:

“I have cooked my entire life. Food is always comforting to me. It’s a place of happiness. I enjoy being alone in the kitchen more than anything. It has helped me through many hard times.”

But Salon.com writer Drew Grant isn’t totally unfavorable about the cookbook My Father’s Daughter by green celebrity Gwyneth Paltrow. He writes:

It’s almost as if Gwyneth wrote a helpful, totally easy to use cookbook that is as useful to college students as it is for hostesses in the Hamptons, but then she felt the need to GOOP it up with all this early, condescending text just to fill her quota of snobbishness. But skip the essays and go straight to the recipes, and you might be surprised how easy Gwyneth’s healthy medicine goes down.

Whether you prefer the kind of upscale dining recipes available in the Gwyneth Paltrow cookbook or you’re looking for something more homey and down-to-earth in Eva’s Kitchen, each of these green celebrity actresses has something to get the reader drooling.

And both stars are known for their green celebrity work — Paltrow with The Robin Hood Foundation and The Food Bank for New York City, and Longoria with Eva’s Heroes and The Make-A-Wish Foundation, among others.

So… we’re happy to suggest GCN reader buy both of the green celebrities cookbooks.

While we expect Eva Longoria’s new cook book to be dog-eared fast, Gwynie’s might be the perfect one to pull out to make a special anniversary meal, birthday dinner, for a holiday feast, or just general entertaining.
