George Clooney and Elisabetta Canalis confirm split?

Oh No! Say the predictable Hollywood break-up is not so! American actor George Clooney and Italian bikini swimsuit model have officially called it quits. The 50-year-old Hollywood movie star and the thirty something exotic looking eye candy have decided that a future relationship between them will most likely not be more than to continue to be celebrity friends.
Both star celebs are green celebrities. George Clooney is a noted humanitarian. Pal to men like former President Bill Clinton and current President Barack Obama, the Cloon is well-known for his efforts to stop genocide in Darfur and for hosting the Help Haiti telethon after the earthquakes in Haiti hit. Pet friendly animal rights activist and health and fitness role model Elisabetta Canalis (known and Eli Canalis to her friends) recently posed for the I’d Rather Be Naked Than Wear Fur campaign for PETA.
Rumors and gossip have swirled since the two love birds first hooked up on the shores of Lake Como in Italy that Clooney was not interested in settling down. He was interested in Canalis — but he was very clear to tell the press he would never get married again or have children. Eli [if she was the one smart enough to end the relationship] said she was perfectly content being a parent to her two dogs, but one has to wonder if Clooney’s clear dismissal of her as a long-term love interest did not sting quite a bit.
Did Elisabetta Canalis really secretly want to marry George Clooney and have kids? We bet she did.
Socialite Life echoed our feelings about the celebrity couple break up, saying:
Oh dear, I guess Elisabetta Canalis should have known not to talk about wanting to marry George Clooeny in the press!
The couple had been dating almost two years. Just last week Hello! magazine reported that Clooney, 50, and Canalis enjoyed a romantic candlelit dinner together in Cernobbio, near his Lake Como home, apparently scotching the latest round of separation gossip.
However, Gossip Cop just officially confirmed with the green celebrity press camps that they are, “no longer a couple.”
According to the reliable celebrity gossip website, the former international power couple released a joint statement:
“We are not together anymore. It’s very difficult and very personal and we hope everyone can respect our privacy.”
So what next for Elisabetta Canalis? Everyone in Hollywood expects actor George Clooney — who now speaks much better Italian (which was most likely his motivation for having a live in Italian girlfriend for so long) — to rebound swimmingly like he always does. The next round of Fall film premiers, he will most likely “fall in love” again and bring some new leggy brunette (or blonde) to accompany him on the red carpet photo-op rounds. But Eli? Her career fate is an entirely different story.
George Clooney was allegedly trying to get her career in Hollywood movies and on American television off to a good start. It is unclear at this time if he will continue to mentor the young woman who is [was] a host on the MTV show TRL in Italy. What is clear that Eli Canalis has made phenomenal contacts in Hollywood social circles thanks to the Cloon.
Because he has uses his waterfront celebrity home on the shores of Lake Como more like Hotel California (allowing it to be a mecca for Hollywood stars to visit on holiday vacations), she has had the chance to play both hostess and tour guide to all. She’s spent time with Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, and Matt Damon (just to name a few).
She’s also seen George Clooney naked (we assume)… so whether she continues to bask in the afterglow of being the almost not Mrs. Clooney, she’s got fabulous memories and cocktail party small talk topics galore she can share about her adventures going to the Awards shows and flying all over the world.
