[Jun. 25]

Looking lovely as ever, peaceful, and what People magazine calls, “serene while taking in the sights and sounds around her,” actress Angelina Jolie was the star of a a new video to promote the “Core Values” campaign for fashion designer Louis Vuitton.

“In 2000, Angelina Jolie made her first trip to Cambodia,” the entertainment journal touts the charity benefit literature caption reads. According to the urban legend history about Angelina Jolie, “[The trip to Cambodia] was a journey that would change her life forever.”

Angelina Jolie fans know the Hollywood actress made her first visit to the Southeast Asian nation of Cambodia while she was working on filming the cult classic action adventure movie Lara Croft: Tomb Raider. Since that time, Jolie has very publicly expressed she was “overwhelmed by the beauty of its landscapes and the warmth and generosity of its people.”

Saying that visiting the third world country opened her eyes completely and essentially stopped her from continuing down a path of simply being a self-destructive celebrity kid. Meeting so many lovely people living in poverty while she enjoyed such great privilege but acted so poorly in her personal life was her a-ha moment.

Since that time, Angelina Jolie has returned to Cambodia frequently for personal travel and on behalf of the United Nations as a Goodwill Ambassador. In addition, Cambodia is where actress Angelina Jolie adopted her eldest son Maddox, now playing big brother to 5 additional siblings and calling actor Brad Pitt dad following legal adoption proceedings to add his name to Maddox’ birth certificate.

According to the celebrity gossip tabloid, “Jolie is the latest celebrity to star in Vuitton’s “Core Values” campaign, which has also featured luminaries like Bono, Buzz Aldrin, Jim Lovell, Sally Ride and Mikhail Gorbachev. Her first stunning ad was released earlier this month, and a longer video will hit louisvuitton.com in July.”

Further discussing the Core Values campaign, Fashionologie reports:

Angelina Jolie’s new ad for Louis Vuitton will officially debut in the International Herald Tribune on Wednesday, but here’s a preview.

Shot in Cambodia by Annie Leibovitz, the ad features a barefoot, makeup-less Jolie perched on a wooden boat and holding her own six-year-old monogrammed Alto bag.

The ad is the latest installment in Louis Vuitton’s “Core Values” campaign, which aims to reach a wider audience by focusing less on fashion and more on classic Vuitton ideals such as travel and craftsmanship.

Other world-famous green celebrities who have also given their celebrity endorsement to the Core Values campaign (which first launched back in 2007) include musician Keith Richards from the rock band Rolling Stones, French actress Catherine Deneuve and UK politician Tony Blair.
