The Kardashian wedding went off without a hitch (albeit a little wedding aisle trip). Short Kim Kardashian married tall NBA basketball player Kris Humphries over the weekend at a ceremony that her sister had hyped as being a green dress theme but turned out to be far more simplistic.
The reality television star opted to wear white (as expected) and looked stunning in a Vera Wang gown. The latest news and celebrity gossip all reported on the drama leading up to the event, with many fashion news reporters freaking out that Kris Jenner, Kim K’s mom (a.k.a. the Momager) was also wearing white to the wedding.
While many critics feared that mommy dearest would upstage her glamorous daughter for the event by wearing the white dress (also designed by Vera Wang), those in the know seemed to expect the theme and had very little [if any] reaction to the criticism that Kris Jenner was planning on both undermining and upstaging her beautiful daughter.
Kim Kardashian is not a tall girl, but her fear of heights was overcome (at least in regard to men) when sister Khloe Kardashian married NBA basketball player Lamar Odom in a purple theme wedding. Seeing how sweet he is to his wife Khloe helped her make the transition to dating tall guys, and Kris Humphries is one of the tallest. Now, they are one of the world’s most famous Hollywood couples to marry — having done so at a private wedding ceremony with 450 of their closest friends and family present, helicopters swirling overhead, and the reality TV cameras filming the “Kardashian Wedding“.
Rumored to be as tall as 6 foot 9, the player who won Kim K’s heart is a gentle giant. Kris Humphries signature romantic move seems to be picking little Kim Kardashian (who stands a mere 5 foot 3 inches tall on her tallest celebrity day without her signature platfrom shoes) up, twirling her through the air like a princess, and giving her a hello kiss.
When sister Kourtney Kardashian was rumored to let the color of the bridesmaids dresses leak to the press, the green news key words in search results on sites like Google, Bing, and Yahoo went crazy. All the entertainment journals and celeb gossip websites went wild reporting that the color theme for the wedding would have the bridesmaid dress be green.
While eco-friendly activists hoped that perhaps an eco-friendly dress designer would have had a hand in production of the elegant bridesmaids gowns, it became quickly obvious that the “green celebrity” reference was only based on a rumor mills report about the color.
When the wedding happened, those reporters allowed to attend the wedding fairly quickly shared the color theme for the wedding was not green — or eco-friendly. Rather, the Kardashians (Humphries) opted for a simple black and white theme wedding. Chic, trendy, and no doubt inspired in part by the Royal Wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton, Kris Jenner — complete with a fresh face lift — strove to look like Pippa Middleton in that Vera Wang gown.

Alas, they did not take enough of a cue from the royal wedding or the royal family’s famous celebrity couples. While Kate Middleton and Prince William made sure all the greenery for the wedding was either donated trees to plant, flower arrangements that could be used as gifts, or fresh green foliage that could be converted into compost or mulch [inspiring the press to focus on the green theme wedding for eco-friendly reasons], the Kardashian clan made use of the color name drop as a tease to garner more press it seems only.
