Fans have been overwhelmingly supportive of Justin Bieber, and the Biebs himself has said little about the accusation he fathered a child out of wedlock during a one-night-stand with a groupie until his appearance on the Today show. Why is he under attack by a young girl who has not yet established whether or not she even met him or if she’s emotionally stable enough to be a mother?
He’s treating all the rumors and attacks with a great deal of maturity for a 17-year-old. Famous humanitarian Justin Bieber confirmed on the Today show that he absolutely never had met Mariah Yeater, the 20-year-old California woman claiming that the Biebs had fathered her 3-month-old child. She sold her story to that illustrious entertainment news journal Star magazine.
The star celeb appeared on Today to talk about the charity effort behind his Christmas album, Under the Mistletoe. His latest CD became available November 1st to much acclaim. After the show, he tweeted his thanks to the show for allowing him to clear the air about Miss Yeater’s scandalous allegation.
Whether he is telling the truth or not about the baby mama drama, Justin Bieber is still a shining example other green celebrity teens can and should look up to as a role model.
He’s going to be donating a portion of the proceeds from “Under the Mistletoe” to a number of charities, including some food banks. Since he and his family had to rely on food banks during hard times when he was younger, the Biebs knows that giving back is a smart way to use star power.
And who can forget his charity water project for his 17th birthday present, where he raised $47,000 with a goal of $17,000 worth of $17 donations from his fans, with 100 percent of the donations going straight to providing water to developing nations?
Hopefully no one, now that he’s been forced to answer the paternity allegations in public — especially since so many people do not believe the rumors the famous humanitarian fathered a child during a one night stand with a groupie.
As far as the charity benefit work goes, keep up the great work, Biebs!
While there is a court date regarding the accusation set for December 2011, there is no word from the Bieber camp about whether the star celeb will submit to a paternity test as Yeater is demanding, or if he will fight her demands in court. Some fans believe agreeing to take a paternity test will make Justin Bieber look bad [because it will somehow imply he knows her], while others think it’s in his best interest to just take it and get it over with and prove Yeater wrong (Beliebers to the end).
During his celebrity interview during the talk show segment, he shared the following candid yet mature sounding confession [quoted from The Huffington Post]:
“I know I’m going to be a target [because I am a celebrity], but I’m never going to be a victim. It’s crazy, every night after the show I’ve gone right from the stage right to my car, so it’s crazy some people want to make up such false allegations. But to set the record straight, none of it is true,” Bieber said.
And the Biebs was very convincing when asked directly. He responded without hesitation: “Never met the woman.”
Hard to make a baby that way, we suspect.
So, what now for the pop music sensation?
The Biebs is concentrating on his music and continuing on his path as a humanitarian. He’s said “Under the Mistletoe” is perhaps his best album to date, in his opinion. And he’s focusing on the future, looking forward to using all the publicity to help him continue to sell records that raise money for the food bank charity.
Meanwhile, Mariah Yeater has her work cut out for her in the California court system. Whatever a paternity test or court battle reveal in the long run, it’s hard to see how Yeater could wind up avoiding jail time. If she hasn’t slandered the star celeb to the tabloids and did not perjure herself in court, she’d be guilty of statutory rape in California — she was 19 and Bieber was 16, according to the allegation. If she did knowingly sell a false story to the tabloids and filed fake legal charges, she could also be looking at possible jail time (as well as will owe a buttload of money for damages and legal fees).
Maybe she didn’t think this through — or perhaps she is simply emotionally unstable and needed to make up a good cover story to help her mentally cope with being an unwed teen mom with no baby daddy? No one wants to throw a teen mom under the bus without knowing the real story, but her claims about the star seems to be so uncharacteristic that Beliebers are — well– finding her claims hard to Belieb.
Whatever the case, the real tragedy is not for Justin Bieber or the mom. If his is the father, the scandal should have been kept private and out of the tabloids for the sake of the baby.
