Sylvester Stallone fighting Hollywood auction fraud?

When word that the gloves from Rocky, as worn by green celebrity Sylvester Stallone himself, would be hitting the auction block, Sly himself did a double-take. He says the gloves are not the originals, and he’s had his attorney send a cease and desist letter, according to TMZ.

This could be trouble for Profiles in History, which deals in memorabilia and planned to auction the Rocky gloves next month. Profiles in History has complied and says it will withdraw the gloves from auction, though it claims to be very certain the storied gloves are legitimate.

According to IMDb, in addition to the gloves supposedly worn by Sylvester Stallone in Rocky, also up for auction are the robe Jeff Bridges wore in The Big Lebowski, the tweed jacket worn by James Dean in Rebel Without a Cause, a handwritten letter from Walt Disney, an “everlasting gobstopper” from Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory, and a golden calf from The Ten Commandments.

But among all these items, green celebrity Sylvester Stallone claims the gloves to be auctioned are not actually the gloves he wore in Rocky. And his lawyer, Marty Singer, has been very demanding in the cease and desist letter, insisting that any attempt by Profiles in History to continue marketing the gloves as those worn by Sylvester Stallone in Rocky will be met with a particularly powerful lawsuit for damages.

Actress Kirstie Alley is having a little trouble on Dancing with the Stars, but she’s been recovering nicely, continuing to earn respectable scores from the judges. Last week, Maksim Chmerkovskiy had a fall during the Rumba to the tune of Over the Rainbow, taking Kirstie Alley down with him, but they recovered. Kirstie Alley joked that she’d wind up having a wardrobe malfunction, which wound up happening. During this week’s Waltz, the Cheers and Who’s Talking Now actress lost a shoe.

While Kirstie Alley and Maksim Chmerkovskiy make it seem almost effortless to recover from some bizarre mishaps the last couple of weeks, it starts to make one wonder if Kirstie Alley is just jinxed this season on Dancing with the Stars. Really. The 60-year-old actress and subject of innumerable jibes at her up-and-down issues with weight started off the show with incredible grace.

But like Cinderella, it seems Kirstie Alley, no matter how amazing and talented, can’t seem to get away from the curse on her. If it’s not fat actress jokes, which she brushes off, willing even to laugh at herself, then it’s a fall (for which Maksim Chmerkovskiy takes complete responsibility) or a lost shoe. Poor Cinderella.

But her prince, Maksim, seems there, ready to sweep her off her feet over and over, and the couple has proved remarkably resilient to any trouble that comes their way. It would be a real shame to lose a vote to something so simple, but given the simple grace with which she accepted the mishap (except for lobbing the F-bomb in an after-show interview) it’s hard to believe anyone would fault the couple for the slip.

Believe who you want but Kim Kardashian herself is saying that she is honored — not upset or appalled — over being featured as the cover model of Cosmopolitan in Turkey. The reality television celebrity is of Armenian descent and has long harbored ill feelings toward the Turkish government for the massacre and treatment of her people, but the modern Turkish culture is actually embracing Armenians more freely in the 21st century. That Cosmopolitan magazine, a worldwide organization, felt comfortable enough to put Kim Kardashian on the cover of their latest fashion magazine knowing that Genocide Remembrance Day falls during the month her edition will be on news stands is a bold statement, one that humbled the green celebrity.

Showbiz Spy reported (via Kim Kardashian herself by blog) the following celebrity quotes:

“Cosmopolitan magazine has a number of international editions all around the world that run in various territories, and when I did this shoot for the international covers I had no idea that Turkey was planning to run my story on their cover THIS month, considering Genocide Remembrance Day is this month.

“My Armenian heritage means a lot to me and I’ve been brought up to be incredibly proud of my family’s background and culture so as an Armenian-American woman it is a huge honor for me to be on the first ever Armenian Cosmopolitan cover.

“I have an amazing relationship with Cosmopolitan Magazine. World-over, Cosmo is known as a fun and inspiring magazine for women of all races, shapes, sizes, regardless of their political beliefs and I really hope that if I can bring awareness to the issue, then this in an accomplishment.”

While other sources who apparently don’t follow Kim Kardashian online have been frantically reporting the first part of her quote and claiming Kim Kardashian is proud of her heritage, they made the misstep in logic by assuming she was appalled by Cosmo not telling her she would be on the cover of the Turkey Cosmopolitan magazine.

Kim Kardashian is not about promoting hostility and division. She is not about hating a people because of their origin or nationality. She is about bringing a sense of freedom and empowerment to women worldwide.

As a green celebrity, Kim Kardashian has spent an enormous amount of time helping promote ideas of natural beauty being from the inside out.

After the death of Elizabeth Taylor (a.k.a. Liz Taylor) last month, the actress icon’s extensive jewelry collection, estimated at a value of $150 million, will be going up for auction. Christie’s auction house has not released a date for the auction, but Taylor had worked with the auction house in the past and word of the pending sale of the screen legend’s personal belongings (as celebrity property) is believed to be reliable. Following up on the Hot Hollywood gossip lead, NY Mag confirmed, “Christie’s confirmed today that they’ve struck a deal with Elizabeth Taylor’s family to sell the late actress’s famous jewelry collection, as previously rumored, as well as some of her artworks, clothing, and other belongings.”

Says Style List:

Taylor speculated before her death that one day her private collection — said to rival that of some royal households — would be “scattered around the four corners of the world.”

The famed actress and stylist and green celebrity, even after beginning her battle with heart disease, was known to continue to benefit charity. She allowed some of the most famed pieces from her jewelry collection to be displayed for charity by Christie’s, though none up for auction then.
