American Idol contestants Scotty McCreery, James Durbin, and Carrie Underwood have hit the big time as music icons. Their memorabilia has been included in a display at Graceland, the former celebrity home of deceased music legend Elvis Presley. But none of the singers can be as tickled with the news than the celebrity teen. His greatest compliment can last year when he met Priscilla Presley and she told him the King would have loved his music. Here’s more about the special exhibit that celebrates icons in American music history and what the country singer has been up to lately.
Celebrity teen Scotty McCreery is enjoying his time in the spotlight, as music artifacts from his American Idol heyday have been included alongside music titan Elvis Presley in a new ICON music display being showcased in 2012 at the deceased singer’s former celebrity home, Graceland. Scotty’s official website shared the news that his stuff was going to be put on display in an announcement issues March 6th, 2012. The yearlong 35th anniversary commemoration of Elvis Presley’s life and music contributions is taking place at the famous location in Memphis, Tennessee.
The special legacy commemoration event is the third exhibit Elvis home crew have launched launching at Graceland in 2012. It will also be the largest display, featuring memorabilia and music history artifacts from many of rock and roll and country music history.
McCreery’s items won’t be the only memorabilia from American Idol contestants on display. James Durbin, the heavy metal singer with Autism who did so well also has his gear included. Items from pop-rock country cross over singer Carrie Underwood are there as well.

The groundbreaking ICON exhibit features 75 artifacts on loan from the famed Cleveland museum, along with items from the collections of many of today’s biggest names in music who have been influenced by the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll. The exhibit celebrates Elvis’ status as a music pioneer and icon that paved the way for many of today’s artists and celebrities. Items on display in this exhibit include Bono’s “MacPhisto” suit from U2’s Zooropa performances, Bob Dylan’s leather jacket that appears on the album cover “Real Live,” along with artifacts from Elton John, Trisha Yearwood, Scotty McCreery, James Durbin, Carrie Underwood, Dave Matthews, Sammy Hagar, Michael Anthony, Joan Jett, Wanda Jackson, Bruce Springsteen, Billy Joel, The Beatles, Katy Perry and many others.

As for what Scotty McCreery has been up to lately, the humanitarian teen continues to sing his low-tone heart out at a variety of music festivals and for charity events around the country.
But right now, while he is still so young, the singer is still making high school and extracurricular activities related to spending time with friends and family a priority. Scotty McCreery has joined his local North Carolina high school baseball team. Taste of Country shares, “He [is self] admittedly is a little out of shape, but Scotty McCreery made the cut to earn a spot on Garner High School’s Varsity baseball team. The 18-year-old hasn’t pitched since 2010, and even the coach at his hometown school isn’t sure what to expect from the senior.”
Let’s hope he plays as well for them out there on the bally field as he sings when he is busy performing live for country music fans. Even if he doesn’t, somehow we expect the crowds will still be packed into the stadium stands, cheering.

As Scotty exclusively visited Access Hollywood on Thursday, the morning following his “American Idol” win, he revealed to Billy Bush that one of those closest to Elvis Presley gave him the biggest compliment of his life.
“The coolest thing anybody’s ever told me — Priscilla Presley was at the show two weeks ago, and she looked at me after we were done, and she said, ‘Elvis would’ve loved you,’”
Scotty, who covered “Always On My Mind” during his “Idol” run said. “That is the coolest thing anybody’s ever told me ‘cause he was my idol growing up.”
