[May 20]

Wrestling star celeb Randy Poffo (a.k.a. Randy Macho Man Savage) was killed in a car accident Friday, May 20, 2011. The wrestling star reportedly had a heart attack while he was driving in Tampa. He crossed several lanes of oncoming traffic before hitting a tree head-on. His wife, who he married last year, suffered minor injuries and is expected to recover. Both Savage and his wife were wearing their seat belts and reports say alcohol is unlikely to have been involved, reports Yahoo! News.

The star celeb wrestler, who was a big hit and had a couple of wrestling titles in the early days of the World Wrestling Federation (WWF), now known as World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), was 58 at the time of his death. His titles preceded those of fellow star celeb wrestler Hulk Hogan, who ultimately ousted Savage as a title holder.

Randy “Macho Man” Savage was well known for his catch phrase, “Oh yeah!” in the ring. Equally he was known as the front man for the Slim Jim line of beef snacks, the television commercials for which featured Randy Savage in his characteristically over-the-top costumes performing wild stunts typical of the star celeb while shouting, “Snap into a Slim Jim!” Savage also starred in the 2002 film Spiderman.
