Randy Macho Man Savage and Miss Elizabeth both dead?
[May 22]
Macho Man Randy Savage (a.k.a. Randy Poffo) died May 20, 2011, in a freak car accident following what is believed to be a heart attack. The former wrestling star celeb had been wrestling in the World Wrestling Federation (WWF), now World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), since the 1980s, and had won a title for a time, losing it ultimately to rival Hulk Hogan, who still participates with the WWE. Savage had a heart attack while driving his 2009 Jeep Wrangler in Tampa and lost control of the vehicle, crossing two lanes of traffic to crash head-on into a tree. In a twist of fate, Macho Man Randy Savage was married to former WWF and WCW manager Elizabeth Hulette (Miss Elizabeth in the ring), who died in 2003 of an overdose of alcohol and drugs, according to according to the Cobb County Medical Examiner‘s office in Georgia, though he dated his now widow Lynn Payne (a.k.a. Barbara Lynn Poffo) even before he married Miss Elizabeth. Now he is survived by his wife since only 2010, Lynn Payne, who was treated and released from Bayfornt Medical Center in Tampa following minor injuries from the wreck, and who reportedly was his first love.
According to The Sun Randy Savage had this to say at his wedding to Lynn Payne just last year:
“Thirty-six years ago, Lynn and I met on Lido Beach.
“I feel so fortunate that I had a second chance to marry my first love, here where it all began.”
A second chance so quickly stolen from both of them. Both the star celeb wrestler and his widow were wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash, no alcohol was believed to be involved, and an autopsy has not yet determined if Randy Savage was killed by the heart attack or by the crash following. Macho Man Randy Savage was pronounced dead from injuries at the hospital he was taken to for treatment, and a ruling on his “medical event” preceding the crash is pending an autopsy, according to WrestleHeat.
While certainly thousands across the globe are mourning the loss of one of the star celebs of professional wrestling, and a green celebrity who regularly helped sick children and gave to charity, the death should serve as a reminder of how quickly life and love can come and go. And hopefully the seat belt that saved the life of Lynn Payne, though unfortunately was unable to save the life of Macho Man Randy Savage, will serve as a lesson to all.
Please drive safely.
