The Dark Knight Rises! New Batman movie characters played by all-star celebs?
Add to the list of roles cast for The Dark Knight Rises Brett Cullen and Chris Ellis of Apollo 13 fame. MTV reports that Brett Cullen is slated on the cast to play the role of a judge and Chris Ellis will join the cast to play the role of a priest. Many roles have been kept under wraps as the movie promises to be the summer blockbuster for 2012. Warner Bros. has been leaking sneak peeks here and there through a Twitter account, TheFireRises.
Currently, the official website offers only a black page with some creepy music playing. Matthew Modine has been confirmed to play a character known only as Nixon, and those close to the film have continued to keep hush-hush about surprises the film may offer for Batman fans. Maybe the Twitter page will offer some insights soon.
As the latest in the Batman franchise, and the end to director Christopher Nolan‘s Batman trilogy (supposedly), it seems like The Dark Knight Rises is trying to go all out to be the next summer blockbuster. It will be difficult to follow the original Dark Knight, with Heath Ledger cast as the infamous Joker. Since Ledger’s death in 2008, his portrayal of the Joker has become an iconic Batman favorite. We’re waiting to see if Tom Hardy can follow up with the latest Batman villain, Bane.
And what of the roles of the new star celebs, Brett Cullen and Chris Ellis? Nobody knows yet. But if prominent actors such as these are joining the cast as a judge and a priest respectively, fans can feel sure that they will play key roles in the film. Maybe not star roles, but key roles nevertheless. We’ll be keeping up with the latest news on the summer blockbuster as it becomes available from Warner Bros. and others.
GREEN CELEBRITY STATS: BRETT CULLEN
Brett Cullen was seen last year participating in a celebrity golf tournament in Casa Dorada in Los Cabos, Mexico, to help raise funds for the Casa Hogar Orphanage. And he was spotted in 2007 at the annual Dennis Quaid charity weekend. Hopefully, he will shape up to be as much of a green celebrity (or more) than co-star Anne Hathaway. She’s playing the new Catwoman opposite Christian Bale (who plays Batman).
