Pink underwear and a handgun at Waldorf Astoria without Nic Cage, the leather, stolen exotic cars and high heels to go with it?
[May 10]
News flash — or flasher. Or crazy lady… or Angelina Jolie inspired fan of leather, high heels, and pink underwear, you decide. The following strange news story was in and out of the news fast. A 46-year-old woman from Danbury, CT, later identified as Marilyn Michose, was in the lobby of the world famous Waldorf-Astoria hotel in New York City wearing a pair of pink underwear over her pants, according to the New York Daily News. While it got some attention, the pink underwear wasn’t nearly as sexy as the pair Sway proposed to wear for Memphis in Nicolas Cage‘s Gone in 60 Seconds movie as touted by co-star Angelina Jolie. But when security spotted what appeared to be a handgun in her jacket pocket, the situation got really strange.
Security approached and asked the woman for her business. She said she simply wanted to put some valuables in the hotel safe. But when they asked if she had a gun, she took off, fleeing for an empty hotel bar. When security caught up with her, she surrendered without further incident and handed over what was identified as a 25 caliber Beretta handgun.
Security called the police to take custody of Michose. Police charged her with criminal possession of a handgun in the 4th degree, and they took Elmhurst General Hospital for psychiatric evaluation. [Ya think?] She apparently had been staying on the 12th floor of the Waldorf-Astoria and was well dressed except for the pink underwear worn superhero style over what appeared to be a business suit.
Michose apparently forgot the first rule of movie villainy — don’t get caught. There was no word on what she was doing with the handgun in the first place. Did she have it for protection, or was it a recent purchase? Was that the item she had planned to store in the hotel safe? Maybe she was just a Nicolas Cage fan. Nobody is really sure. But her brother confirmed a history of mental illness for Michose.
Website DNAinfo.com reported:
Her brother, Robert McHose, 51, said: “She’s fallen in and out of mental illness from time to time.
“It’s a very unfortunate situation. I’m glad nobody got hurt and she’s in the proper care.”
Michose probably won’t be Gone in 60 Seconds from further mental health evaluation. Given some of the crazy Nicolas Cage got into recently in New Orleans, maybe he’s inspiring some wannabes. At least Michose wasn’t drunk as far as anyone knows. She might need to start using some drugs, however. And she’s unlikely to be bailed out by Dog the Bounty Hunter and no exotic cars were stolen or a part of the strange news incident.
