Celebrity Death!

WWE Macho Man Randy Savage dead a true rumor?

[May 21]

He was only 58 years old when he died, but legendary 1980s WWF turned modern-day WWE wrestler Macho Man Randy Savage is dead thanks to a tree and a car crash is a true rumor. The Florida resident known for his flamboyant schtick on the professional wrestling circuit and his celebrity endorsement of the food product SLIM JIM died in May of 2011 in a tragic car accident.

Randy “Macho Man” Savage, was known for what many are calling a larger-than-life personality. During the 1980s, the professional wrestler offered crowds a spectacular view of his signature professional wrestling moves like his aerial spectacular flying-elbow.

His raspy voice and flamboyant spandex wardrobe that could make even rock star David Lee Roth envious of his wardrobe closet was memorable enough — but when you mix brash style and bravado with a beautiful sidekick, then you have the professional wrestling world eating out of your hands like they are drinking beer from a cup.

Macho Man Randy Savage had a young woman named Miss Elizabeth who often was his arm piece ringside and during celebrity smackdown interviews. [She was actually his former wife in real life, but is also no longer alive thanks to a drug overdose that took the pretty WWF darling’s life.]

Under public records for the legal name Randy Mario Poffo is where you can find more information about the death of the wrestling star.

The Florida Highway Patrol car crash report from officers said the former wrestler was driving a Jeep Wrangler when he lost control in Pinellas County around 9:25 a.m. According to the report, the out of control Jeep veered over the raised concrete median divider, crossed over the eastbound lanes and then crashed head-on into a tree, killing Macho Man Randy Savage.

Why the Jeep went speeding out of control is a question for the coroner to answer, as Police said he may have suffered a “medical event” before the accident. However, the Police report (rightly) did not elaborate. The FHP simply indicated officials would need to perform an autopsy to determine the cause of the crash for sure, as no signs of mechanical failure of the 4×4 were readily apparent and there were no indications about a road hazard that would have caused the Jeep to swerve.

To that end, rumor mills that share sports news and other entertainment journals will likely be following up the celebrity death story with close attention.

Also in the car accident with Macho Man Randy Savage was Barbara L. Poffo, age 56. She was Randy Poffo’s current wife and fortunately suffered only minor injuries in the crash.

Both Randy and his wife were wearing seat belts — which likely saved her life and may have saved his had there been no other medical issues complicating the situation.

So the lesson in this sad celebrity death of Macho Man Randy Savage?

Buckle up — “Oooh Yeah!”

Regarding his death, wrestler and celebrity friend Hulk Hogan wrote, “He had so much life in his eyes & in his spirit, I just pray that he’s happy and in a better place and we miss him.” The two men are both well-known for being true gentlemen in their local Florida communities as residents, getting involved in charitable civic projects, helping serve as role models for youth, and promoting athleticism.
