Royal Wedding Trivia!

Honeymoon was over before vacation travel ever began?

[May 3]

All work and no play make the future king a dull bridal date? Prince William and Kate Middleton, now the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, are putting their honeymoon plans on hold. Prince William will be returning to his job as a Search and Rescue pilot for the Royal Air Force next week. For now, they are relaxing on a pseudo-honeymoon vacation in London, England. The newlyweds having been caught outside for a stroll, holding hands, after leaving Buckingham Palace Saturday morning, reports E! Online. They hopped into a helicopter, presumably on their way to a royal digs in Scotland, to have a quiet four-day weekend with a little less fanfare. And yes, we do mean less media blitz and Royal Wedding celebrity couple press.

From the Royal Wedding official website:

The locations of both their private weekend before The Duke returns to work and their future honeymoon, which will be overseas, will not be disclosed in advance.

The Couple have asked that their privacy be respected during the coming weekend and during their honeymoon.

And who, of course, can blame them for wanting to keep it secret? Who wants a crowd of photographers and cameramen and reporters at his honeymoon? No one! Although Prince William is still on active duty for the Royal Air Force, which is a perfectly good reason to postpone the honeymoon, it seems equally as likely that the move is one to let the royal wedding hangers-on tire a bit before Prince William and Kate Middleton try to sneak off, which may give them better chances at some privacy.

Of course, there have been speculations. Word is that they will be heading overseas. Of course, that could be anywhere but the British Isles. We already know that Prince William has committed to visiting New Zealand and Australia over some recent tragedies. Perhaps they can slip in a honeymoon there. Certainly either country would be happy to host them and both have some beautiful scenery. A Los Angeles Times blogger has suggested venues in Arizona or California.

We here at GCN of course wish them luck wherever they go. [We won’t be following them; we promise!] And we look forward to a long and satisfying marriage for the newlywed Duke and Duchess of York. They seem very happy and natural together. Hopefully everyone will respect their privacy and give them at least a few days of peace … just the two of them.
